I was never that familiar with the original, so this is what my mind races to when I hear any other version of the song (including the original). Wooo for simplicity!

and blind adherence to genric conventions. was talking to a friend about how weird it is that a genre all about catharsis and outsider-status is so f'in puritanical or some shit

OH MY GOD OH MY GOD IF I DIE I'M A LEGEND

we'd be so good -- the only thing we need is hoods bc god knows we don't need decent recording equipment

they go by "Nathan ma and the rosettes" and they play @ the sweatshop a lot

yes! places we slept was amazing live. one of my favorite bands. the main singer has his own twee band that frequently plays around here which is also really good.

Weirdo.

it was something like a rave death, if you will........

basically. they turned out all the lights, and everyone stood in literally one place for like 50 min or so. it was REALLY loud--the bass was insane. it had snippets of stuff from the albums, but I think it was mostly improvised---FAN

Phil-wise if you get a chance check out Agamben, anything really, but he's most famous for the first two volumes of his work on 'homo sacer.' they're dense but also short, impressively erudite, and, dare i say, fun to read. he's sort of a side-note if he sounds interesting. if not, skip skip skip.

hmm...novel-wise Lowry's Under the Volcano is excellent but very under-read. uhh i've been on a kafka kick for a bit, and reading proust right now with some other kids which is real good. quite an undertaking, but people having done it say that it's worth it. having read only a little, would tentatively agree..?

wutcha lookin for? intro, easy starter, any particular person/movement?

e.g., the drawl gets me every time https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQ_hUxuumk0 he has another, too, on contemporary thinkers. a little hit and miss for technical or pedagogical reasons, but one of many resources

didactic comic books, youtube videos, & wikipedia (p good for phil, often) also recommend strongly 4 da noobz. or flattering PMs.
