Well, the original film was not as good as the book and I had no idea about the remake... who's gonna be the director?

I know what you mean, it's pretty crazy how I keep finding new bands I love, maybe like once or twice a year to be fair, but still it's happening! Karnivool last year, Transatlantic this year... you know what I'm like, I just listen to the same bands on a loop but it's still exciting. I am disappointed you're listening to less Wilson, it's weird cos I feel like a lot of his solo stuff does rival Porcupine Tree. That's ace you have such a long commute, I used to love that about the bank, just having proper music time. My commute is only fifteen/twenty minutes now, it's just not long enough :( what do you do for a living these days? Picked up the new Pineapple Thief album and it's amazing, not prog at all just straight up rock, but very melancholic and so many feels. Off to see them in December and Anathema next week (alone but it'll be worth it) :)

I saw Wilson twice last year too in London and Newcastle, which was incredible. I was sat three rows from the front in Newcastle as he came on stage playing an a capella rendition of Trains, a year after I got this Trains tattoo presuming I'd never see it live again, probably won't ever now. But it was mental, I cried. The new track from the next album sounded amazing, really like a mix of ambient drum and bass, a bit Massive Attack, with some nice crazy riffs like the ones in Raider II, a really sad chilled out vibe to it all. Looking forward to that album so much.

I know what you mean, the music thing only ever gets better week after week year after year doesn't it. This year has been amazing for gigs, best year yet I think! I saw Wilson's last show with Blackfield in February at the coolest venue I've ever been to (KOKO in Camden), then Dream Theater on Valentine's Day (much romance in Wembley arena that night), I saw Riverside for the first time, and then dredg for the first time (FINALLY! Only got a humongous dredg tattoo on my arm and everything knowing I'd never see them), they played catch without arms all the way through which was just ridiculous, one of the best things that's ever happened to me. And another DT show coming up next weekend. I realised I have easily spend £1k this year on shows, way better than going on holiday! Have to say, even given my impressive gig history, that Riverside was the best gig I've ever been to. Everything was there in perfect synergy. It was just the greatest thing. I miss seeing PT though.

I really did! I can't get enough of them, they're in my top two bands I've discovered in a solid year. They blow my mind. Have you got a favourite track? Wanted to see them this Summer but they're only playing Sonisphere I think, dicks. Can't stop listening to Weather Systems by Anathema though. This album makes my life. The feels, never known a CD so emotionally intense. And it's a perfect run through from start to finish. ADORE

A bit like you I do things by ear, I don't know how to compose or play properly, but I have a Midi keyboard. I'm working on some material at the moment which I will release when I have an album together, but I'm still working on shaping a style as I have such an interest in all sorts of music.
