Star_Ark
G'day. If you've got some free time check out Star Ark, they sound similar to Isis, Tool, Katatonia etc. All music is free to download. Here's a sample [track artist=star ark]"winning"[/track] Sorry for the spam but I think you might like it - Neil http://starark.bandcamp.com

Shit almost forgot, on Facelift "Love, Hate, Love". One of the best tracks ever.

Each album is a bit different to the last actually. None is really *better* imo, just different. Facelift is their first, and it's the most energetic sounding of the albums. Have a listen to tracks like "We Die Young" and "Bleed the Freak" for an idea on the album. Dirt is the second, and a lot more dark. Some really chilling vocals in the title track "Dirt". "Junkhead", "Rooster" and "Rain When I Die" are all great tracks from the album (But they all rule) Their self titled album was the last one with Layne Staley. "Again", "Sludge Factory", "God Am" and "Sludge Factory" are my favourite tracks. I guess that gives you somewhere to start. If possible I recommend smoking some herb before listening ;)

Pretty sure I saw you then and didn't realize it haha. Thanks! I'm pretty pleased with how the photos turned out. Looks the next show we're both going to be at is that Mogwai show. I'm really excited to see them again!

I liked that about it too. It's going to be a much different experience seeing Kylesa at MDF when it's around much more people. But I did manage to get up close, right in the 2nd row or so :D I forgot my earplugs too haha

I thought the show was amazing! I was really impressed with Rosetta, they really do seem like nice guys. I like how the vocalist was encouraging people to sing along, haha. Yeah, I wish they played longer too. Kylesa was great as well, it was a fun set.

Yo dude! Recently.. lots of Alice in Chains :P Not exactly new, but I just never really realised how absolutely brilliant they are. If you don't mind a bit of doom/sludge (nice and slow) I'd check out Sovereign by Horn of the Rhino (from the album Weight of Coronation). The guy has an amazing voice, similar to Chris Cornell, but a little bit deeper. Also digging The Sword - Warp Riders Killer album, reminds me a bit of Black Sabbath.

oh yeah. i've never heard of them. lol. any idea on where to start? oh, and i'm incredibly jealous at the fact that you're going to see Kylesa soon.

i agree. i'm not really a fan of their earlier stuff, more of their later releases. Define the Great Line is such a solid album and probably a good starting point. on the other hand, Lost in the Sound of Separation is a bit heavier. those 2 should give you an idea of what they sound like.

most definitely. i'll have to find someone to actually go with me. going to shows alone isn't all that great. haha. if i were you, i'd go ahead and buy that ticket just to see Underoath and AAL. too much goodness to pass up.

I couldn't tell if my message sent so, Hey, my latest obsession has been Cloudkicker. He's a one-man instrumental prog-metal band and it is fucking ace. I'd try either his newest release Beacons or The Map Is Not Our Territory. Plus its all free off of his website. Some other favorites that I didn't see you had are Intronaut (Prehistoricisms or Valley of Smoke), Russian Circles, 65daysofstatic, and Between The Buried and Me. Happy Hunting!
