hey, thanks for the frank turner rec, i finally got back online and checked it out, great album, and apparently he's playing in a club on the other side of beijing tomorrow so i'm going to go check it out. i never made it there all of last year, so finally i've got a bit of motivation.

well, in that case, i see you haven't got trampled by turtles and 'have gun, will travel', both really good modern 'country' bands!

hey it was pretty awesome, they got off to a bit of a slow start, had some sound trouble and broken strings, but Tony Decker played some songs by himself about half way through (imaginary bars and another one) from that point on it was awesome, couple of encores, people were trying to get them to come out for a third but they looked pretty tired which is fair as the time change from toronto to Beijing is a kick in the head.

i'm jumping pretty solidly on the lucero bandwagon at the moment, they're playing in toronto....2 weeks after i leave. Sufjan's playing/sold out, hold steady's playing/sold out. might get to see the weakerthans, otherwise everyone seems to be over in england in the fall the bastards! so not sure who will be in town, so far haven't seen too much of interest....however when i get back to beijing reguritator is headlining a chinese music festival ........

yea i've only written one new song, i sent it to finn, did you hear it? it's pretty quiet because i recorded it drunk at 4 in the morning in my room, that little recorder works really well though. I've been experimenting with about 4 or 5 other songs, thinking i'll take a day off friday to get them all down, oh and i've also purchased a "pipa" check it out they're pretty cool, sound kind of banjoy i guess not really sure how to play it yet, but i'll get there eventually.

it would be cool if this were more invasive and when i saw u were listening to music i could rant drunken abuse at you..i got hooked on frontier ruckus....i'm rocking my own yanjing party at the moment, tastes kind of like piss but comes in 600 ml bottles for like 50 cents so i can't complain too much

hmmm, i'm too lazy to paw through your charts, so sorry if you already know these, but i've been diggin' deadstring brothers, Randall Of Nazareth, grand drive, chainsaw paws, and for some good folkier tunes perhaps micah blue smaldone. oh, and theres a pretty sweet live centromatic w/jason isbell album i stumbled across as well. hope you can find some enjoyment in at least one of my suggestions

Actually I didn't really listen to much music last week, the ones that are there are just backround age of empire songs.

glad you liked them. i go through phases, i guess. i listen to whatever i think sounds good at the time. genre is irrelevant. haha

hmmmm, you may like Butane Variations, Ezra Furman & the Harpoons, Or the Whale, and the new ones from Vic Chestnutt, The Felice Brothers and The Sadies are pretty good too...
