Daft Punk mostly uses talk boxes. These are very similar to vocoders in terms of effect but they use a different set up to achieve it. Talk boxes have a major advantage over vocoders though. Because they use the human mouth to modulate the signal, it's much easier to enunciate with a talk box and thus the resulting vocals are usually a lot clearer.
