After holding out at house parties, clubs and warehouses all winter long, we now give you the much needed answer to a long-overdue season of outdoor celebrating: Summer Dance. Combining forces with Sydney’s National Art School, we present to you a run of Sunday sessions bound to be the highlight of your summer.

An outspoken voice in the normally non-confrontational world of electronic dance music, Kenny Dixon Jr is committed to keeping a distinctly black imprint on techno and house. With an unparalleled output spanning over twenty years, the Moody sound has been categorised as an innovative hybrid laying on raw grooves and reworked samples carving its own place in Detroit’s rich electronic legacy. ‘Sunday Morning’ ‘Shades of jae’ ‘Dem Young Sconies’ - when Moody puts out a new 12” the world stands up, and dance floors across the globe get down.

Dixon began producing in the early 90s, starting Kdj Records in 1994 with the Moody Trax EP. Tracks like ‘the day we lost the soul’ and ‘I Can’t Kick This Feeling When It Hits’ proved his techno-disco sound and caught fire across to Europe, where his profile grew immeasurably with the release of his late 90s debut album ‘Silentintroduction’. Moody continues to release through both KDJ and Mahogani Music - having also worked closely with fellow Detroit legends Carl Craig, Rick Wilhite, Theo Parrish and Andres to bring their home to the masses.

Some two decades later, Moodymann’s DJ sets remain an unmissable treck into the Motor City sound. When Moody plays a track, people listen - be it for its political outcomes, musical talent or straight up dancefloor heat. As one of the most enigmatic personalities in dance music, Moodymann’s DJ sets remain an umissable event and the perfect closer for our outdoor Sydney celebration.
