narcotic is kind of an odd one because it combines both his "abrasive rhythmical" and "atmospheric textured" sides. i honestly don't know any other release in his discography that is similar to it, and i've heard over 60 of them

perhaps you should check out the Gulf Between Us single, the full-length version is actually a whopping 23 minutes as opposed to the butchered 4-minute cut on the album

yes they're remixes, and yes i was skeptical at first too, but the more you hear the more you realise that his whole discography is based on remixing and recycling, whether it starts off as his own material or not, by the time it reaches you it becomes his material. regardless of whether it's post-mortem stuff or remix collections, they all have Bryn's contiguous theme flowing through them. remixes of Muslimgauze tracks by guest artists (Occupied Territories & collabs with Rootsman) are notably different, but still great.

thank you a lot for listening... it was a major change for me since the first record is dark ambient and godspeed-esque post-rock, and the second one is also in a post-rock/dream pop vein. probably the most conventional sounding thing i've done.

oh yeah I'll get to it eventually, Sonic Youth are kind of hit or miss for me though. sometimes they have VERY good songs, like Brave Men Run or Green Light, but on the other hand I don't really remember anything from Sister, and Daydream Nation I don't get at all besides the opening track. i guess their records just require some repeated listens, I didn't really enjoy EVOL at first as well but then it just clicked.
