My m8, this Friday is looking to be quite joyous for my/our ears (and probably quite sad for my wallet): new Mt. Mountain (which sounds incredible), new King Gizzard album, and some psych band I'd never heard of but sounds quite cool, Southern Lights, is also releasing an album that very same day. I'm planning on grabbing a couple other kraut-related releases at the same time - Minami Deutsch's last, Automatism - Immersion, and Lemurian Folk Songs' previous album. It'll be a very krautrock weekend.

I've been slacking in the psych department lately, so I appreciate you listing all these boys out for me hahaha. LW is solid, just got finished with it, and I'm looking forward to the Mt Mountain and certainly going to check out that Holy Monitor album.

Our affinity shifted because I've been updating my extreme metal library, we're still bros though. I love my gorey fiends see, which btw 'The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari' was lit. Speaking of jazz n' drums, Elephant9 is cool and so is Coltrane, but what's really mindblowing is Fela Kuti with Ginger Baker, those lads had high compatibility too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLuWYD6sFwo

I'm glad you ask, I dig thrillers and mind-spinning freakshows mostly but also comedy to take the edge off. You're lucky I've been watching a lot of movies too, so HERE COME THE LONG POST: Gummo, Hesher, Jarhead, Hot Fuzz, SLC Punk, Superbad, The Big Lebowski which I worship everyday. There Will Be Blood and No Country For Old Men are awesome! The Evil Dead saga is humor but also tough as nails. Btw since you're very 'lynchian' yourself I feel compelled to say that Mulholland Drive is the most fantastic thing I've re-watched, but Blue Velvet kind of sucks and Eraserhead just made me nauseous :) Moving on since I think you know most of these, here goes more.. Altered States, Naked Lunch, Time of the Gypsies (beautiful movie this one), Upgrade and Split are both surprisingly good, Ari Aster movies are a must, Werner Herzog movies are epic (look for Klaus Kinski), Shrek Retold on youtube is epic too and check out the movie about Flatland.

Hahaha, that's a hot take for Blue Velvet, I loved it. But I also really vibe with Lynch's work, as you guessed, so you know how it goes. I actually haven't seen most of the ones you've mentioned here (yet!), but big shoutout to Big Lebowski, that was a great movie. I feel the urge to share some of mine here because I can't help myself haha: Some movies I've watched recently and loved were 'Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters,' 'Touki Bouki,' finally got to 'Yojimbo'. I've been enjoying Czech New Wave films (which were made right about when my Ma and Grandparents were moving to Canada). Haven't seen much Herzog, but 'Aguirre, the Wrath of God' was insane in the best way possible. Going through the German Expressionism collection on Criterion Channel which rekindled my love for 'The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari' and 'Nosferatu.' And speaking of the Germans, I've finished 'Berlin Alexanderplatz' which was really something else. The Epilogue was some 5D chess type crazy. I'll check yours out!

And yeah, Ulaan Markhor - Helm really impressed me. It's a great psych rock album, hands down. In the Long Hand sounds like a song for a spaghetti western that never got made. But yeah, once I got into Helm, I revisited Black Onions, which also had quite a few songs that really scratched that psych itch for me.

And I yours! I've been pretty obsessed with it since I first heard about it while watching X-Files a while back. I got lucky because The Return was being released as I was finishing my first run through of the original series, only person waiting 25 years was Coop for me haha

I was a huge fan, my favourite parts were always the red room and odd dimension happenings, which The Return expanded. I understand lots of people didn't like the tonal shift, but it was right up my alley. How did you find it?

Well, I loved it so much! I'm a huge fan of Lynch's weirdness so everything was perfect for me. I must admit though that when Coop said "I am the FBI", I shed tears of joy. Talking about Lynch... do you like his work? My favorite movies of his are 'Blue Velvet', 'Eraserhead' and 'Lost Highway' but I haven't watched all of his movies yet.

I've only seen most of his work since your last comment, but I've enjoyed everything I've seen so far! By my avatar you can guess I was a fan of Eraserhead but my favourite so far (aside from TP) has to be Lost Highway.

I didn't even know he released a soundtrack, speaking of soundtracks there's Goblin, might be hit or miss but some of its stuff is great for "dat ambiance" too. Another one would be Dale Cooper Quartet - La Parole Navarre, more of a nocturnal album and great to perform any task with, give it a try, join the dark side hehe.

How does it compare to Blood Lust?... It sucks dude, its less doom-y and more retro rock worship which is running rampant and drying fast these days. Now to be fair Yellow Moon, Poison Apple and Mt Abraxas are sweet tracks and The Night Creeper album seems to have some following, even though it has less balls, *less metal* and I haven't really heard the whole thing lol. Now Blood Lust is flawless psychedelia and pure fucking murder from track 1 to 9. A classic.

Damn, I'll check some of those tracks out, too bad about the rest of the albums. They really caught lightning in a bottle on Blood Lust.

I'm digging more and more this prog direction of Motorpsycho, I'd love a physical copy of the Unicorn collab. An yes the cucumber is great, I feel compelled to run through those psychedelic sonic goodies, the guy has a ton of albums, there's not enough time and space for all these artists. Question: How do you find time to listen to a lot of albums and run'em back again? You vinyl?

I think it's certainly different, and probably a stronger release overall than Dyring Surfer as you said. Tracks like Dont Bring Me Coffee annoy me a bit though, i don't see what they're trying to do, but that's just me. I liked Bulls alot, and Cowboy Kirk was good, the use of the choir on different tracks fit really well.

Yeah, Don't Bring Me Coffee was my least favourite. I thought Alabaster was a really cool song, and the mellotron on Bulls were awesome.
