Биография
“… a taste of a next-generation Norwegian free-jazz-injected artistry, sounding good, deep and true, and against the grain of more commercial concepts. There is hope for artful jazz yet.”
Downbeat – Josef Woodard
Moskus, nominated for two Spellemannspris (Norwegian Grammy), have presented a number of club and festival concerts in Norway and abroad since their critically acclaimed debut album “Salmesykkel” was released. The band, consisting of pianist Anja Lauvdal, bass player Fredrik Luhr Dietrichson and drummer Hans Hulbækmo, have been acclaimed as one of the most exciting young groups in Norway.
Moskus combine a personal and mature form of expression, more commonly found among far older musicians, with youthful energy and unprejudiced openness. The band are very dynamic, and alternate effortlessly between uninhibited playfulness and introspective seriousness, between distinctive improvisation and composed tunes.
In the Guardian, John Fordham called Moskus “Norway’s latest young cult-status candidates”, and a review in the British jazz website The Jazz Mann refers to “Salmesykkel” as “… a remarkably mature recording, nothing sounds forced or hurried as the young trio develop their ideas at their own pace”.
On their eagerly awaited second album, “Mestertyven” (“The Master Thief”), the trio are taking a giant step in a new direction. On their new album Moskus are fearless, intuitive and ingenious – a bit like most master thieves.
Moskus are:
Anja Lauvdal – piano
Fredrik Luhr Dietrichson – double bass
Hans Hulbækmo – drums
