When Folksinger/guitarist Bob Hurd is at his simplest he recalls Paul Clark’s early works.
Highlights from his debut album include ‘John The Baptist’
(where Bob whips out a harmonica) and the beautiful flute-accompanied acoustic ballad
‘Christ’s Song’. Most songs, however, feature the group Whitebird who add piano,
flute, guitar leads and a small male chorus.
Their tracks are not quite as immediately accessible due to the ensemble vocals
and piano-based sound, but overall they still manage a nice flowing summery quite as

as best exemplified on the wah-wah-enriched ‘Lamentations’.
