"Music you have in common includes The Raveonettes, Depeche Mode, New Order, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark and Taio Cruz." Ha! Which one does not belong?

Actually I got no idea what the hell is occuring in Sydney or even Australia since I have been travelling Europe for more than two months. So far enjoying the old continent and the old homelands, finally got the opportunity to see some great acts, eg: A Place to Bury Strangers, Asobi Seksu, Atlas Sound, the Pains of Being Pure at Heart, the Antlers, Cymbals Eat Guitars, HEALTH, Apparat, the Horrors, Voxtrot, Whitest Boy Alive, Grizzly Bear and etc. As well it has been awesome seeing friends, meeting randoms and sharing experiences. To be honest, not looking forward to returning to Australia in some ways... How are you?!

Sydney's quite isolated when it comes to every kind of art or expression, still a long way to develop itself w/in the fields of architecture, design, etc. Though we have amazing internet access and exposure to discover new bands and hear all this music, on other hand lack of gigs is imminent... Recently I've seen this New Zealand indie pop/twee band the Brunettes, they are very bubblegum-pop w/ catchy lyrics and hooks, combined w/ Kate Bush theatrics. Besides that the more known acts I've seen lately are the Rapture, Metronomy, Junior Boys, Metric and Crystal Castles... So you live in the surroundings of the 'city of brotherly love'?! I get what you mean about the big apple, but yet you get some pretty sweet gigs compared about this city. Even Melbourne's slightly similar, except they have a better-developed local scene and are much more noise-friendly. Sydney's quite the touristic, corporate, profitable metropolis...

Hello, Last.fm friend. Your taste in music interests me (or else you wouldn't be my Last.fm friend). I have learned from you and would like to share a few things. I have a new music blog where I upload sonic gems I have found over the years. I call it Popout Tracks. I hope you'll check it out from time to time and download some tunez. http://popouttracks.blogspot.com/ Best, jessesamuel

Shitnee's horrible regarding gigs. Lack of exposure to good and great bands, as well closing down live music venues that have been the setting stone for some of this city's greatest artists. Overall I'm not impressed w/ this on so many levels, but what can one do?!... I wish this city would be like London, Hamburg, Berlin, Zurich or Paris, yet the thought of coming to the end of the world does seem like a long way for some... Where do you live at the moment?!

The hardships of living at the end of the world, an enormous disadvantage I cannot escape from. Though lucky me, I'll be seeing A Place to Bury Strangers in either London or Paris late next month. Something certainly I wouldn't wanna miss out on + to make my Australian friends jealous. In other ways it is uncool that Sydney's not exposed to so much goodness as the other cities, though the city can have such a great underground and independent perspective. Damn Melbourne, they've done wonders to that city... Anyhow thanks for the heads up, I'll make sure to take your comments w/ me each time I listen to A Place to Bury Strangers and when I indulge myself in their theatrics... Greeting from Shitnee

Hey "friend", nicely done job w/ Kate Bush. A simply underrated songstress. Also I can see you've been digging into A Place to Bury Strangers. There's so much to be said about their blissful tunes, though I'm still discovering their second album, but it is slightly getting adored as their self-titled debut. Cheers for the Rakes as well... Greeting from Sydney

An intriguing repertoire, I must admit... especially w/ Inspiral Carpets as the lead and who would blame them w/ such a great debut "Life". Also each and every Kate Bush enthusiast must be admired, and lastly followed by the House of Love... Lovely greetings from Sydney

Yes, I recently started using Facebook the last past month, so at the moment is a little bit "empty" of images... but I will upload some of my albums to give it some color or better black n' white taste. My name is Carlos Visentín ... "icarokar" it's only my log name on my Unix system.

Well... It's a famous spanish photographer's picture. Some concepts are mixed up in something to do with my life and I saw it very fitting for the occasion. Nothing else.

Hi Valerie, hello again :-) I have to say that I often listen to your music library. I find there lot's of songs I live and lots of songs I donÄt know but which give me new impressions and often I have a deeper look at the bands! You would fit perfectly in our last.fm group of radio-shadowplay. Will you become a member? That would be really great (and the group radio will be added by some fine music :-)) Have a great week! - Greetings from Germany - IndiMichi
