I caught your review of the new Swallowed and couldn't agree more with what you said. I was actually revisiting some works of Ianu Dumatrescu, a spectralist, and the thought occurred that Swallowed could be death metal's first to incorporate spectralist elements in the music, even if it's inadvertent/convergently developed.

As far as I remember, I left similar comment on your project's page. If you're happy, that's the most important. I, personally, made several attempt to create blackened music and it always turns either purely depressive, alternative or cheesy. Not meant for me, really :D What kind of projects do you have? Because I have plenty as well.

Hi there. Coma Void goes in the right direction. Sometimes it feels to happy to be considered black metal, this should be moderated before the release in my opinion. Are you planning more releases?

What do you do if it's something major next time? Let's say you were in a severe car accident and you had to have surgery, without insurance. Would you be paying for it for the next 10 years or what?

Jesus, that's disgusting. Good job on the DIY fix, but why didn't you just get a doctor to sort it out?

That's the first time I've received a semi-negative response for a recommendation. Hmm, I'm going to need to give this a bit more thought.

It definitely does. Try Pharaoh's "The Longest Night" and Iron Savior's "Iron Savior" and, while not in the same vein, give Lost Horizon's two albums a listen (especially "A Flame to the Ground Beneath", if you're pressed for time) for a display of flawless power metal. I look forward to your feedback :)

Awesome. I see that you've made mention of the absence of power metal in your collection, would you be interested at all in me making mention of a few quality bands that you could start off with?

Ah, at least some of them are to your liking. Better than none! You seem to be looking for more inventive bands, as opposed to those who use repetitious structures more often than not. Cascadian bands should be to your liking if Skagos are hitting the spot. Maybe bands along the lines of Alda and co. will be more to your liking.

See how you feel about it in a few weeks, if you manage to stick with it. I do agree with you on one thing - the bass. The introductory song, though completely instrumental, is fucking fantastic. The bass is awesome and reminds me of the post-punk bands of the 70's/80's. I think they have a very interesting sound. There is a primitive side, with an almost Pagan sound to it, then this fresh side with lots of integral bass. Have you managed to listen to Self-Inflicted Violence? That's their other band and it's different to Ealdulf in a few ways. More psychedelic, in my eyes.

I forget. It was one of the first three albums, though I'm sure that doesn't help at all. My post-rock listening habits are similar to my black metal listening habits, or any metal genre habits in fact ... Come to think of it, I tend to always avoid traditional bands, or those with an early influence on the genre and keep up with the modern batch of bands. A lot of people don't seem to understand that you can like a band without liking their influences. :( The sound you describe, with punishing sections and dynamics, reminds me of Jakob. :) I understand they're influenced by the big guns, too.

Violent post-rock? Violence isn't normally a concept I associate with post-rock, to be honest. Though I suppose I do understand what you mean by that. I tend to get frustrated by bands who're too ambient. There's only so much of it I can take. Actually, no. I've only ever listened to Mogwai once before. :) Suffice to say I didn't like what I was hearing.

On the side of those metal recommendations, which you're welcome for, have you ever heard the post-rock band Jakob? I didn't know you liked post-rock (or so your "About Me" description says - not sure if that's still applicable these days) and they're just about the best post-rock band I've come across. If you've not heard them, you'd be wise to do so - along with the other recs, of course. ;) This is my personal favourite song of theirs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvrXBb8XVc8

Also, try looking to Cascadian black metal. Bands like Skagos will do you no wrong. Also, I'd highly recommend Ealdulf as well. Seeing as you're looking for bands similar to Winterfylleth. Try this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zLPQU5IhzM

I also find that Blut Aus Nord's Memoria Vetusta I: Fathers of the Icy Age fits the bill well, too. Lots of fuzzy distortion with more emphasis on riffs and a lovely audible bass (though you'll need to pay particular attention to it). Also, The Ruins of Beverast's second album, Rain Upon The Impure. Wall of sound done perfectly. I also recommend Pestilential Shadows' latest album, In Memoriam, Ill Omen. Huge emphasis on fuzzy distortion, but lots of solid riffs. Would Trist's Zrcadlení Melancholie work also? Fantastic melodies, but a massive atmosphere before it.

Perplexed_Sjel here from MA. Hoping you remember me, if not, HELLO! I see you're looking for thick, wall of noise black metal. I don't know much about thrash, or anything of that sort, but I know a few bands who might offer what you're looking for. Dare I suggest Velvet Cacoon's Genevieve? It's well know, but definitely catered to that wall of noise sound. If you enjoy them, you'll love Wrath of the Weak, particularly Alogon. Then there's Arizmenda's debut. A lot more varied that those two aforementioned bands, but with an album named Within the Vacuum of Infinity, you've got to expect fuzzy black metal.

The recommendations that it gives once it takes your listening patterns into consideration are generally grand too, I've found some spanking good bands in this way.

Hipsters stole Agalloch, it was never (and will never be) a hipster band. Your logic is flawed, but my comment was only in jest. Welcome to last.fm, we shall be friends.
