alyssa's a close friend of a close friend of mine and i've been grieving it for the past few days now. i have not opened a single facebook comment because i've seen what i'll find. how does one create progress and meaningful discussions in a country ran purely with emotion and pride?

Here's a **classic Filipino spaghetti recipe** — the sweet, nostalgic kind loved at parties and family gatherings in the Philippines. It features banana ketchup for that signature sweetness, sliced hot dogs, and plenty of cheese on top. Serves 6–8. **Ingredients** - 1 lb (450g) spaghetti noodles - 1 lb ground beef (or beef-pork mix) - 4–6 Filipino-style hot dogs, sliced diagonally - 1 medium onion, finely chopped - 4 cloves garlic, minced - 2 tbsp cooking oil - 2 cups tomato sauce - ½ cup tomato paste - ¾–1 cup banana ketchup (UFC or Jufran; adjust for sweetness) - 1 cup beef broth or water - 1–2 tsp sugar (optional) - Salt and pepper to taste - ½–1 cup shredded quick-melt or cheddar cheese (for topping)

**Instructions** 1. Cook spaghetti in salted boiling water until al dente (follow package, ~8–10 min). Drain and set aside. 2. In a large pan, heat oil over medium. Fry sliced hot dogs until lightly browned and edges crisp (~3–4 min). Remove and set aside. 3. In the same pan, sauté garlic until fragrant (~30 sec), then add onion and cook until soft (~2–3 min). Add ground beef, breaking it up, and cook until browned (~5–7 min). Season with salt and pepper. 4. Stir in tomato paste; cook 1–2 min. Add tomato sauce, banana ketchup, broth, sugar (if using), and browned hot dogs. Simmer on low, covered, 15–25 min until thickened and flavors meld. Taste and adjust seasoning — more ketchup for extra sweetness if desired. 5. Mix cooked spaghetti into the sauce, or plate noodles and top with generous sauce. Finish with a heavy sprinkle of shredded cheese — it melts beautifully from the heat.

going back to the pinoy last.fm community ideas: im thinking about making... a gc and an fb page (similar ng sa holge/indie underground vibes pilipinas yung content + a few new ideas, pag-usapan natin). yung goal talaga is to give the pinoy last.fm obsessors a nice community + joke about our terrible ah charts + inform the public that this crazy site exists. we need to add more fun into our lives. use the message inbox feature if you're interested or if you just wanna roast me.

In a letter, Rachmaninoff described how natural settings could stimulate his imagination: “I go for a long walk in the country. My eye catches the sharp sparks of light on fresh foliage after showers; my ears the rustling undernote of the woods. Or I watch the pale tints of the sky over the horizon after sundown, and they come: all voices at once. Not a bit here, a bit there. All.” It was not long before the voices began to sing to him of a new work: his Piano Concerto No. 3. Years later, Rachmaninoff recalled how he had composed the germinal melody of the piece: “It simply ‘wrote itself’!…If I had any plan in composing this theme, I was thinking only of sound. I wanted to ‘sing’ the melody on the piano, as a singer would sing it!"

I remember listening to the piece for the first time after listening to rach 2 on repeat and being overwhelmed by the counter-melodies in the first movement and the ossia cadenza. Crazy to hear this story about the piece! The second movement is, to me, one of humanity's greatest accomplishments. The only thing I don't like about it is how it's way above my skill level...
