On this day in 1980, a psycho decided to gain personal fame by murdering another person ~ Join me in remembering John on the day he "got out of one car and into another." If that doesn't make sense, please watch the video's last 10 seconds.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jknynk5vny8 ~ IMAGINE ~ http://ilike.myspacecdn.com/play#John+Lennon:Imagine:13390:m6021797

Well ma dear ~ most of my teen years were in the 80's, which in my opinion SUCKED as a music era. You were either one of those kids that was into NEW WAVE, whatever the hell that was supposed to be, or BIG HAIR bands. Soooo, I stayed with the rock side of things and absorbed a lot of U2, but didn't shy away from the Police, Phil Collins, and yeah must admit some Duran too. But today, I find I migrate back to much of the music that came from the 60's and 70's as well and how artists today are intigrating the works of past genius's into current music. That's why I like the Black Keys so much. Dan Auerbach studied Junior Kimbrough ((blues)) and makes some f*ckin GREAT blues based music today. But your dilemma seems to be that you would rather be in a different era based on the social/culture compared today ~ am I right. Something tells me, it's not just about the music ~ hmmmm ~ to be continued?

Guess I did now Free ~ even have a few songs on hard drive. Like most, I probably know them mostly for the infamous "All Right Now" which still rocks today. I have quite a lot of favorite bands from that era ~ Grand Funk Railroad, Humble Pie, Kinks, The Who ~ just to name a few...So, do you sail?

Yeah I couldn't justify that price unless I was an absolutely huge fan, which I am ^_^ Yeah I've heard BRMC are doing another tour. In the end I didn't see them at The Assembly because my mate asked me if I could spare my ticket for his dad to come with him instead, and given that I had other things to cope with at the time I decided to sell my own ticket. To be honest, as I've already seen them before, I think I would like to keep my first memory of them as it is, because usually the second time is never as good as the first in my own experience, and as a general rule of thumb I tend not to see the same band twice because my musical preferences change all the time. As much as I love BRMC, i just don't listen to them as much as I used to when I first got into them...

Yeah BRMC are such an important band musically, because they're different and they've got a distinct sound, and what annoys me is how Q magazine quite happily writes off their new album as basically more of the same. But actually it combines the best of everything they've done, so it's just lazy journalism on their part! I've also recently bought tickets to see The Coral in Birmingham on July 12, and I'm really excited about it because when I got into The Coral back in 2008 I had missed their (then most recent) tour, but now I finally have my chance to see one of my favourite bands :D You much of a fan of them? If so, there should be plenty of tickets left, because, unfortunately, like BRMC, they are incredibly underated!

Yeah I love BRMC - I always remember buying their debut album and being blown away by it! I've already seen them before, back in '07 and they were brilliant, but this time I'm looking forward to seeing them with my leather jacket on, because that's how BRMC roll ^_^ You should try their latest album - it's a culmination of all the different sounds they've tried on all previous albums. As for Isle of Wight, the line up is nice and mixed, no single genre dominating unlike previous Reading and Leeds festivals. The line up includes Jay-Z, The Strokes, The Courteeners, Blondie, Marina & the Diamonds, Florence and the Machine, Calvin Harris, The Saturdays, La Roux, and probably what I'm looking forward to most is Paul McCartney on the sunday :D Shame you're not going this year, but you should definitely try next year, because although it's not as well known as glasto or reading, it's certainly well established and has been running for around 40 years - Hendrix played there one time!

Cool, well I'll check out that album :) Yeah my dad is a Bad Company fan and he has the greatest hits on tape cassette, which I remember listening to at some point. Yeah Paul Rodgers is quite a good singer isn't he? As for gigs, I saw Stereophonics a few weeks ago at the NIA, which was amazing, and I'm due to see Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (for the second time) in a couple of weeks at The Assembly in Leamington, and eventually the Isle of Wight festival in June, as well as Paul Weller (One of my favourite musical legends) in November at the LG arena...so yeah quite a lot of stuff lol. If you get the chance, check out the Isle of Wight festival's website because the line-up is brilliant and if you can afford it I'd seriously recommend you try it out!
