Did you ever hear Hidden Hands Of A Sadist Nation? It has Tomas Lindberg on vocals but for the life of me I have no idea if he sings on the entire album or if he just guests on a song or two... when it comes to those kind of vocals they mostly all sound the same to me anyway. Despite not knowing what the hell I'm talking about, it was a pretty decent album. I've never heard any other Darkest Hour disc after that one. LoL

New Old Man's Child is definitely worth a spin, as is the new OSI....

Thoughts on the new Kreator?

Yeah. That's one amazing album, right there. Willow Tree, Valley of the Moon, and The Spider Song are mindblowing. Digging the Hammers so far, man. Gotta listen to the second half later tonight, but hearing "new" material with Scalzi on vocals is a treat in itself.

Never got around to it (story of my life). Hopefully I'll have time to give 'em a shot before year's end.

I've never heard anything prior to Khan being in the band so I can' account for the really older stuff but if you enjoy The Black Halo then you'll probably enjoy anything from Karma to Ghost Opera. For American Power Metal it doesn't get too much better.

What's shakin', man? As far as Bison BC goes....no, you're not missing anything. I can't get halfway through that album without turning it off and putting some High on Fire on instead. They've got some great riffs, they kill live, and they are really cool dudes; but the album is barely on the better side of mediocre, IMO.

It's all about "Earth Day" and "Deep Peace", man. That's probably the best of Dev's 'true' prog records...gets me all emotional. *sniff* As for Primordial, glad to see you're digging 'em. Nameless is probably their most accessible, most 'up-your-ass' album. Their previous works are much more melancholic and weighty - perfect for autumn, but I don't think you have that shit in Tejas. I spent a Christmas in San Antonio once, and it was fucking bizarre....anyway, some people think The Gathering Wilderness is superior, and it's hard to argue against 'em. Storm Before Calm and Spirit the Earth Aflame are in the same vein. The early works are 'blacker', for lack of a better term.

Well, at first I was just a smidge disappointed. Wanted it to be harder, blacker. It's growing on me, though. It goes without saying these guys are fucking geniuses. Sometimes the best stuff takes a little while to absorb.

I'm inclined to agree with you about the slow songs. The transitions do seems a bit clicky, but I think that's because they are trying to be cute, and sometimes it just sounds odd. I find it funny, though, that people are going nuts over this album when it sounds a LOT like St. Anger, just with better production and solos. I'll have a detailed review up next week, so I don't really want to blow my opinion load just yet. As for Anaal Nathrakh, I'd start with their latest and work backwards. They get more "accessible" with each progressive release, but it's still some of the most extreme shit ever put to wax. The vocals are the main draw here; they're just fucking insane. Way cool.

As a career spanning body of work goes, it's damn hard to beat Misfits, Samhain, and his first few solo albums. Essential stuff. For the solo records, the first two are the best, and 3 and 4p are damn good too. After that it gets pretty touch and go.

Jump in your car, stick Biomech into the CD player, and start driving. Wherever you may end up, the drive will make it worth it. Ha. Like I said to Spleenman - check out a band called Persefone, an album called Core. Just discovered them - most excellent stuff.
