I will definately listen to some Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. I need some new bands. I listened to Camel-Moonmadness last night and that was pretty sweet. If you like prog then check that out. But besides music all I do is watch Battlestar Galactica, The Office, and Southpark. Have you watched Californication yet? It has David Duchovny and he's badass, as usual. But if you havent seen Battlestar Galatica you really need to watch it. But I'll let you know what I think when I get a chance to check out Nick Cave.

Yeah I haven't been listening to much new music. I've been getting into the Ozric Tentacles more though. Have you ever listened to 'em? They are fucking awesome! If you havent, check out the song Erpland. It's one of my favorite tracks of all time. There's an awesome flute part. I also have been listening to more Depeche Mode--the album Exciter. "Dream On" is such a lovely song. I'll look into Keren Ann, fo sho. What kind of music is it? I'm not much of a movie person, but I'll check out those movies you mentioned. I definately more of a music bitch. haha. King Crimson was one of the most badass shows I've ever been to. I was in the 2nd row right in front of Tony Levin.

Piper At the Gates of Dawn would probably be my favorite album of all time. I only have Disintegration by The Cure. So I guess you would suggest Wish? What else? I like Disintegration but i feel like the drumming is too 80's sounding in many of the songs if that makes any sense.

Ah true. I'll have to make a point of checking out movies at the library over the summer. The library is also good for tv show dvds. I recently checked out the Dick Cavett show, which had some amazing performances on it by Jefferson Airplane, Joni Mitchell, David Bowie, etc. It was so good!

Yes! The classics are always a safe bet. Plus, you can see their changes over time. And I'll definitely check out Camel. Ak, if only Bergman's films weren't so hard to find. That sounds like a fabulous concert. Sorta reminds me of Kraftwerk, in that their albums aren't nearly as impressive as their live stuff. I would have never guessed that they were progressive because their albums are more techno. Concerts though...I just saw REM last night with my family for my mom's birthday. They're pretty classic, I guess. Eh, I'd love to see some great progressive stuff live though.

Yeah, I have mild insomnia as well...either that or I can't shake my love of the wee hours. Haha, an awesome Spanish statement, indeed. That's one of the few I know just from necessity. I'm not in college yet, as I'm graduating this year. I'm going to go to San Jose State in the fall and major in Music Composition...and maybe minor in something else. We'll see how that goes. I honestly don't know if I'll be any good, though. And still...the thing that worries me about internet acquaintances is that you consider real friends more disposable as well. Haha, exactly. Like when taking down "the man" became popular, they were "the man". And I saw the Darjeeling Limited and loved it. It's still the same sort of Royal Tennenbaums in style. But then again, Sofia Coppola's films are reminiscent of that genre. It really is all collapsing in on itself. Yes, the youtube revolution is exciting, if they would just cut the crap about gee, how swell it is that they're "bringing the world together". If only there were some way to keep track of the filmmakers that were worthwhile. Ah, but online is a large place. Even foreign film, perhaps. I heard about a film called "Paris, Je t'aime" that was being raved about for its creativity.

Oh yes, of course, Zabriskie Point. And man, some of those look like I'm going to need to watch them in the near future. It's just a pity that the film as an art is hard to find. I hope I can find some of those movies at least. Do you know of any modern filmmakers that are doing anything new and interesting? I know some film festival entries put their movies on youtube from time to time, like Four Eyed Monsters. (pretentious and artsy, but admittedly the way it's put together is intriguing) I don't think theirs is still up (you're not missing to much), but I'm sure there are others.

Yeah, friends are always an infinite source of recommendations themselves. Films... Yeah, gotta love Kubrick. Clockwork Orange was stunning, but I think I'm biased because I love the book. A lot of times, I'll go back to classic Hollywood for favorites. Some Like it Hot never ceases to amuse me. For modern film, I've enjoyed the cinematography of the guy who did the Royal Tenenbaums. It's hard to find clever, artsy film anymore. Those and cult classics. Monty Python, Spinal Tap, and Withnail & I, anyone?

It's amusing how music tastes seem to develop with our lives. Folk's been one that's been weaving in and out of mine recently too.
