You should use the app ScrobblePod to scrobble tracks instead of Last.fm. It will scrobble tracks played in iTunes and also scrobble everything you play on your iPhone/iPod too. The last.fm app doesn't support iPhone scrobbing, so that's why I'm using this one instead. It seems to work well.
