I have just played this track with a duplicate overlay which I set to start from first hearing part 20. The diminished major fifths right at the start become superbly offset by the major sevenths close to the end. Okay, the chords that attain completion (mostly towards the end of my playback) detract from the minimalism, but I still recommend trying this to any minimalist-lover! Of course, I'm delighted by the fact that every performance is unique...

There are a few versions of this around, and all of them appear as the same piece. Fortunately they are all wonderful.

Weitling1987 there are like 5000 versions of In C. Which one are you talking about?

Still absolutely wonderful, loving it loads. So much to unravel, but really you should immerse yourself in it rather than try and analyse it intellectually I suppose

wow, this sure is a crazy piece. Recently I was doubting whether there are direct "causes" of "joy"- but if there are causes for tingly enjoyment of the present moment - which perhaps would be a definition of joy - well this would be one. Good point about the key C. Even in major, another key probably wouldn't do the trick.

Bob, I'm with you. Riley seems to be an entirely happy individual. I'll have what he's having.

What key is it in Raggleman? D if like me you are playing a soprano saxophone. Damn those transposing instruments. I have to agree with mintonmedia, this is the Riley bedrock, although having said that Rainbow in Curved Air is the one that really does it for me. Does anyone get the feeling that Terry Riley is probably a lovely bloke?

When it comes to Terry Riley, this is the bedrock. Thank god last.fm has it posted at full length.

really love this. This type of music makes you focus on every note and every sound. Its hard work. But well worth it.
