A Queens, NY-based hardcore/metal quintet from the late '80s/early '90s, Leeway was born out of the New York Hardcore scene. Often touted as one of the pioneers of the scene, Leeway were one of the first, followed by many, to inject metal and hip-hop sounds into the hardcore format. After years of local hardcore shows and opening for national Metal/thrash acts like Exodus, Nuclear Assault, and Suicidal Tendencies, LEEWAY busted out nationally, with their release of their debut album Born to Expire in 1988, and their subsequent US tour supporting hardcore legends, Bad Brains in 1989.
