http://www.cavestory.org/download/music-tools.php I think the "Org Maker" was what he used, so technically they aren't MIDI files, but it's a very similar format, from what I understand. I'm not sure why he opted to use it instead of MIDI, because the latter would have been so easy. XD I love MIDI. And I have a similar situation - I'm in one of my more difficult semesters for college this season with calculus II, chemistry, and two programming classes (I'm also in psychology, but that's rather easy xD), so I haven't had as much time to do things that I would rather be doing, too. :s Hopefully I'll be able to make my spring semester easier so that I'll have more free time - I some things I want to do with programming too, but I also have a lot of music-related things I want to start doing - thanks for liking my facebook page and sending me a message ^.^ that's where I'm going to put the music I make once I actually get around to making it.. I'm determined to find the time!

It appears I have done the same thing Xp I apologize - I know it's probably annoying to keep in contact with me when I'm so sporadic with my replies... but I'm here now ^.^ and I wish I could help you with your gif icon, but I don't think I've ever edited or created one XD I bet there's a way to scale down each individual image in the sequence to the acceptable size for last.fm profile pictures. There's probably a program somewhere! :) And I would totally >SHUTDOWN ... just joking :D To be perfectly honest, I don't know that many MS-DOS commands in the first place. :s But if I had that power, I think I'd let you be like my server and stay awake all the time (you're fun to talk to! :]), but then you'd be an insomniac by definition, so... maybe it's not a good idea for me to enter commands in the first place. :P

By the way, now that I'm here, xD I want to give you two other things: 1. I'm digging your GIF icon ^.^ I wish I could actually enter a command there. 2. Cave Story was SO COOL - I still don't know how the guy did it... well, hard work of course, but the fact that one guy could have done EVERYTHING to make a video game (music, graphics, programming, testing...) makes him like a digital Renaissance man. He wrote the program that he used to make the MIDI music from scratch, as well as the game engine that he used, also from scratch with C++. I guess a lot is possible in 5 years' worth of free time, but it still is amazing every time I think about it. I'm something of an amateur programmer, and I'd love to do something like that, but I don't have the time and I don't have the skills. :p I still like to make little pixel art sometimes, though... ...I listen to the soundtrack as lullaby music. xD

It really is! :D the cinematography was marvelous, along with all of the tiny little details they packed in. And the success that they were able to achieve with the whole non-linear plot structure was something I don't think that many other films in its category were able to achieve. It's definitely something special. :) I think it probably even would have been wonderful without Jared, but having him certainly doesn't hurt. *.* I love him. ANYWAY, it makes me really sad that the film didn't really achieve the kind of popularity in the United States that it did in Europe. These are the kinds of films that more people should watch - the ones that make you think. But judging by some of the films that are really hot over here now, I sometimes wonder if it was because we don't have enough people with the attention span that you need to appreciate a Mr. Nobody-like film. xD Or maybe it was just a problem with distribution. Food for thought, I guess ;p
