Fistral was where we stayed (I think), that was nice. Haha compete! I still won't forget DL '10 when just as I was sobering up after passing out you hit the drink big style and then tried to eat with your hangover - you were so ill! You tried to blame the food saying it was bad/off, whereas I blamed the sun and said I had sunstroke & sore throat. It definitely wasn't what we had been drinking. Good times. See I didn't particularly enjoy my visit to Newquay. I think it was the company/situation/time of year but I was just in a serious bad mood all the time. You do need to come up, but i do agree about travel costs. They suck :( I need to be out with people who know how to deal with my binge drinking :P

You make an interesting point, well argued, though Flight 666 is still an odd choice with that in mind! (I am a bit of a Maiden Mastermind, my apologies). All their other albums had something of a theme to them (Live After Death = hearing the classic line-up play material from the first 3 albums, which had had differenet line-ups, and the Powerslave album, Real Live Dead One = Fear of the Dark album, and farewell tour for Bruce Dickinson, Rock in Rio = reunion tour, Brave New World album, 3 guitar line-up's live debut, even Death on the Road was themed around the Dance of Death album). Flight 666 was literally a greatest hits! It was promised to be themed around 1984-1988, but they included a handful of older songs, and then added 1992's Fear of the Dark essentially due to fan demand. Their 1984-1988 themed tour became "1980-1992" - essentially the hits.

Unusual, picking Flight 666. I didn't like how the crowd sounded un-naturally muted. Iron Maiden's live catalogue can be split into different things with different strong points: * Live After Death (relatively raw, authentic album, but of a very high standard) * A Real Live Dead One (like listening to a well recorded bootleg - dirty but real) * Rock in Rio (pretty fake, studio edited live album, but it sounds gigantic - too much production, but good production) Live at Donington is like a better recorded version of A Real Live Dead One, but a far worse performance, Death on the Road like a smaller, less grandiose Rock in Rio (6 songs from Dance of Death and one song from The X Factor which were new to live albums and the fact it's still pretty solid means it's just about justifiable). I'd have said Flight 666 and Live at Donington are the two that are removeable from the catalogue.

Link me to it. I really like some live albums. Iron Maiden's Live After Death and Rock in Rio are both solid listens, and there's a few good tracks on Flight 666 and Death on the Road. The Rolling Stones are AMAZING on Shine A Light. Van Halen's pay-per-view concert in Toronto (1995 - Sammy Hagar era) is amazing. It was done for TV so perfect quality, even tho it's a bootleg (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6qOvr0me2kw). VH ones are cool as Eddie plays a LOT more guitar live than he did on album in the Hagar era. AC/DC's original live album had some really solid stuff on it. I have the audio version of their Stiff Upper Lip Live DVD though, and Johnson's voice was just not in great shape on that tour. Kiss Sympthony's great? My favourite reggae album is Captured Live, by Lucky Dube. And I only like Papa Roach's live album - none of the old ones.

Been back into them a bit more lately, well before the announcement. I am quite excited about their first ever live album being out soon. Live albums are so 'in' right now.
