A collaboration could be interesting, send me some files over if you like. Best not to think about genres too much.

Indeed, looking forward to seeing JFK, Hal Hutchinson and Cementimental all again too. Yeah I have seen that documentary, it's pretty good though was made before Jandek started playing live.

Hmm, I don't think anyone else sounds like either of those acts which is why I enjoy both so much. And yeah, definitely going to the Consumer Electronics gig, it's gonna be a ton of fun.

anyways, yes there is quite a bit of variation amongst the tracks. but i assume you've probably already downloadedd it and listened for yourself at this point.

i did hear a bit about that one, sounds really interesting but i haven't checked it out yet. probably will do that soon! btw, GM have 2 other albums which i can help you find sometime if you want :) each of their albums sound pretty distinct, and Rechenkoenig definitely stands on its own, above the others imo, but the other 2 are also really good and certainly worth having.

See? i told you it was great :) it's a tragedy that so few people have heard it, and even more of a tragedy that GM isn't making music anymore :( i sent an email to Editions Mego about GM a while ago and Andi Pieper sent me a tweet saying i shouldn't hold my breath for new GM stuff. it's really unfortunate. :( Hmm, i actually haven't heard a whole lot of Pita's stuff; i only have Get Out and it's ok imo. i've been meaning to get more of his stuff though, any recommendations?

While I wiggled I saw a sausage fighting a biscuit over a damp lettuce leaf while egging them on was a distended bag of giblets with it's friend the jar of pickles. The sausage beat the biscuit into crumbs and happily held the lettuce leaf aloft in victory while the bag and jar applauded it. I shrugged my shoulders and carried wiggling on my way to the haunted castle.

Oh, just that a lot of my backlog is a bit stuffy with nonsense. Too much "I had a good idea, but couldn't develop it properly into something for listeners" style experimental electronics.

I consider it far more difficult to listen to than any noise I can name, in a good way of course.

Sun Pandemonium is godlike! One of my favourite albums. Everything he's done is well worth hearing though.

Not very likely at all at this stage. I'd love to see Florian Hecker sometime though, that guy is a genius.

I recall enjoying Raspberry Bulbs quite a bit. Honestly I don't keep up as close to the label as I did a few years ago due to ridiculous prices and fairly uneven quality control. The Geography Of Hell tapes they released are worth pursuing as far as the less well known and prolific projects go.

Don't sweat it, man. To be fair, a lot of it is 3deep5erryone shit, and is easily deleted.

as you might guess, my favorite Gescom album is ISS:SA. :P but most of their stuff is worth checking out, save "Motor" (their first album) which i remember being pretty boring. and yeah! you should definitely check out the GM album. IMO it's an "unsung hero" of glitch. it's really unique and cool. it sounds like a bunch of jams/improv sessions but they never drag on long enough to get boring. i've actually talked to one of the guys in GM (on twitter) and he confirmed that most of GM's stuff was recorded from improv sessions. also, not sure if i've made this comparison to you already, but i like to think of Rechenkoenig as being the "no wave" of glitch. it's very disjointed, distorted, and full of weird start/stop rhythms similar to DNA. it's a great album.

Well, they say Gescom is an "umbrella project" and that there are a lot of different musicians who contribute to it, but it has always sounded very much like Autechre to my ears, so i think that they probably contribute the most to it. Plus usually the sound of the Gescom releases sort of matches the sound of Autechre releases that have come out around the same time. For example, Gescom's ISS:SA has a similar sort of experimental sound as Autechre's Draft 7.30, and the came out during the same year. It's also true of The Sound of Machines Our Parents Used vs. Tri Repetae, A1-D1 vs. Quaristice, etc. i think they like to use it as a sort of "escape" from Autechre. it's a bit more "fun" sounding & less serious. recently it's also more "raw" sounding/less processed. there are even actual (non-granulated) vocal samples on A1-D1.

It's the opposite for me, started with beat driven music and went ambient.. I've listened to Heckers discography over and over again so many times. I get lost in his atmospheres for days on end. Saw fennesz live last year, that was incredible.

Honestly, I've never gotten around to listening to it. My audio backlog is way too big at the moment. It's getting a bit crazy.

hey! i'd probably have to go with 'imaginary country' by TH and my favorite Ae fluctuates quite a bit. it's probably tied between LP5, Draft 7.30, and the new one.

I loved ( ), but felt Takk really suffered from the terrible mastering, you've got to give post-rock room to breathe and move, dynamics are such a big part of the genre. EP's name is Brennisteinn, it's really different from Valtari. So loud and and thick. Really great stuff.

Ágætis Byrjun definitely. But I'm really, really enjoying their newest EP. Making me really eager for the next album.

They're something pretty unique as far as I know, and in my opinion the single best band to have come from Japan. They tread on a lot of genre lines but I would still just classify them as indie rock, despite all their inspirations. They create very atmospheric yet exhilarating music that is both complex and accessible, and very original despite their standard trio lineup. It ranges from almost post rock in the single release of moment A rhythm to pop rock as in Disco Flight. I think the Feeling your UFO EP is most representative of their sound, although they've been going on an even more experimental route since.

I'm not sure whether it's so depressive, but it's full of cynicism. The Night Before The Funeral is a good example, which you could compare to Middleton's Cold Winter. The solo project is much closer to typical slow/sadcore than Arab Strap. If you would like to check out more music like that, I would recommend Carissa's Wierd and Low. Ling Tosite Sigure will always be my favourite fun band, though, and they'll be releasing a new album in a week.

Dense and morose. I enjoyed The Red Thread the most, from the three albums I listened to so far. The other two were just too oppressive for me to get into at first listen. I'll give them more tries later. Malcolm Middleton's solo project is worth checking out. It's very soft, compared to Arab Strap.

Anything, honestly. Pygmalion is my favorite album. The Pygmalion Demos is honestly fucking awesome. Their debut album, Just For a Day, is really good. Their self-titled EP is really good too.
