might be the wee break i took after 4 combined with low expectations but i'm 3 episodes into season 5 of the wire the now & i've gotta say i'm fuckin laving it. forgot about how major crimes was on marlo's tail for a year solid before the brass shuts it doon - i reckon the frustration ye'd feel along with mcnulty's alcoholism fuckin ALMOST makes the homeless murderer storyline plausible. granted its one of the show's weaker points no doubt but its by far the worst aspect of 5, which is really solid so far. right into gus the newsroom guy who's basically yer david simon stand-in & i'm diggin the parallels between the starts of seasons 2 & 5, where a chain of widereaching events is set into play by the selfish actions of a powerful man trying to cement his power (valchek with the stained glass windae - leading to all the dock murders, carcetti not taking the schools bailout - leading to the to polis budget being cut, surveillance being dropped & marlo's people killing again)

Vancouver's a cracking city, laidback as ye like. There's plenty to see and do and I've met a bunch of sound cats already. you've fucking NAILED IT! incredible reading of the film man, your analysis definitely plays into talia's whole 'the slow knife, the knife that takes its time, that's the knife that cuts deepest' - she's willing to sacrifice her body as well as her mind in order to get the bat right where she needs him, to inflict on him the most crushing, humiliating blow possible. aye yer also bang on about the scene after, as a film the writing (in parts) is incredible, the cinematography is fantastic throughout & most of nolan's direction is spot on, its either just too ambitious a project to pull off convincingly, or maybe just some scenes coulda done with a massive polishing up. bruce escaping from the pit, returning to gotham & seeing bane for the first time in ages for a showdown and the line is: 'so, you came back to die with your city?' What do you think of the new Baths album? It's pretty dark, not as colourful or catchy as Cerulean but I still like it. Apparently he was really ill for an extended period of time when he was making the album and that led to the direction he took it in.
