Found your reviews on RYM. Will have to check out some releases that I've missed that you favor on there. Btw, how would you rank Ravedeath, 1972 against Hecker's other releases? I have 3 of his others and Ravedeath, from the samples I've heard, sounds as though it could be his best yet.

Adam, thanks for sharing your music. first impressions : i like it. Winds is definitely more cohesive than Work of the Mind (which reminds me sometimes Mark McGuire sonic explorations with his solo project). Winds is dense, it will take me some time to fully appreciate it, but i already like the meticulous layering with immersive drones and found sounds (i certainly prefer the pure drone & found sounds tracks than the acoustic guitar based ones). i am following you on this, sun thief :)

Yeah I'm a big fan of Piero Scaruffi, probably the most intellectual and least conformist rock critic out there. He gave The Downward Spiral an 8.5 which is extremely high by his standards and his blurb prompted me to give it more listens. It's a groundbreaking intense instrumental post rock/ metal piece but very sensitive and experimental. It has lots of elements, from classical music to electronica, shoegaze. In regards to your Dismantled comment. I would have to say that I dismissed them early on as being pretty talentless and seemingly devoid of the appropriate level of emotional output from the vocalist to go with the lyrics... Seeing them live before Combichrist helped put the nail in the coffin because everything seemed so half-assed. The only thing that saved their performance was the eye candy female keyboardist and Siren(I believe) on drums. I like the song Breed to Death and I have tried to see if there is anything else to them that I didn't see originally so I have all their albums and have went through a good bit. Its better than I thought it would be.. but that's not saying much. Just thought I would drop my two cents after I saw your comment.
