Surprisingly i think Howling Bells' latest, Radio Wars, is probably my favourite of the year so far, followed by the Maybeshewill album. I hope the track in English is decent. Reading the translations of their Icelandic songs reveals some really crappy lyrics and makes you happy that it's not in english; however, I chalk that up to the lyrics losing something in translation. Basically, I hope they are as good in English as they are in Icelandic and Hopelandic.

Odd sounding...I'm excited about this though: ""inní mér syngur vitleysingur" ("within me a lunatic sings") sparkles as one of the most anthemic songs sigur rós have ever written. "festival" is epic in its elation and scope, "illgresi" features one of jonsi"s finest vocal melodies over a lone acoustic guitar, and "ára bátur" is the largest musical undertaking in the band's career, as it was recorded live in one take with the london sinfonietta and london oratory boy"s choir, a total of 90 people playing at the same time. the band also utilised the talents of their string-quartet friends amiina, as well as a five-piece brass section on certain tracks." I figure that it'll be good in the end. Sigur Ros can do no wrong.

It's a pretty special record isn't it. #6 on my top 50 i think. New BSPs got some great tracks, but nothing special overall I don't think.

Not sure about Mellowdrone yet. Although Fashionably Uninvited is a great track. I fear they may turn out to be one of those averagely good bands with one outstanding song.

I know what you mean, sometimes they can seem a bit flat. But at the right time/place they're bloody amazing. Need another listen to the new stuff yet. Wasn't in the rooms for most of the first!
