Dude, do you know Candy Claws? Their new album, "In the Dream of the Sea Life" is impossibly great, and the two-song wildfire-danceparty mini-album they released before it ("Two Airships / Exploder Falls") is pretty much my favourite thing in the world right now.

Well, I've been really enjoying the album "BiRd-BrAiNs" by a band/girl named tUnE-YaRdS lately. Tumescent riffage and thumpdrums, played on ukelele, recorded to cassette, and possessing some great pop intuitions nestled amongst the oddness. Graceful and belligerent ~ ... ... ... ... "Come Into My House" by No Kids is an unassuming sleeper-grower of wistful disco-pop delights I think you might well like. Lonely and wierdly affecting ~ ... ... ... ... Ponytail kick ass pretty unambiguously... ... ... ...and lastly: The Music Tapes "For Clouds and Tornadoes" is fricken great. It's one of those albums that's so completely in its own blanketed, warm-lit world that you can't usefully compare it to anything. You should definitely give it a good ol' active listen, I think ~ at the moment, it looks pretty implacable on my Album of the Year pedestal. Peace!

Thanks for the recommendations, ma-ma-maps. My vague memories of the Books from years ago was a dissatisfaction at their lack of melody ~~ I don't know what I was listening to back then, because 'Lemon of Pink', at the very least, is *relentlessly* melodic. And awesome, to boot.
