Regina Spektor's first album, 11:11, is an excellent starting point if you want to get into her. All of her albums are very, very good though. She's a very gifted songwriter with a quirky sense of humor about life that I find infectious and fun. Man, it sucks to be unemployed. I mean yeah, sometimes I hate my job, but then I remember how grateful I should be to have one. Speaking of work, I have to report for duty soon. You should totally post a short review of the Ani show on the event page! I was trying like he'll to get a ride to the upcoming T&S gig in Oakland next month, but tix sold out before I could arrange anything. :( oh well. Next time I'll catch them for sure! Hope that works out for you, too.

That's funny cuz Black Madonna is also my favorite Noe Venable song! In fact, I would go so far as to say that it's one of my favorite songs of all time, and that's saying a lot. I especially love the spoken word style bridge; pure poetic bliss. It still sends chills up and down my spine every time that I hear it. "World Is Bound" is probably her best effort overall, although I'm kind of torn between that one and "No Curses Here." Oh and you're the first person to say anything about the Pee Wee's Big Adventure reference lol. I love that movie!

Hey! I LOVE Neko. She's incredible, and I honestly don't think you'll go wrong with any of her solo albums. My favorite of all time is Blacklisted, but Fox Confessor is really good, too. =)

I downloaded both of FeFe's LPs and bought the mp3 single I Want You from Amazon. I think I'll purchase the new album on CD when it comes out. Hmm, you might enjoy the music of Noe Venable. I was first exposed to her when she opened for Ani at a show in Minneapolis years ago. I'll put a collection of songs together and shoot you the link. She kind of reminds me of a female Tom Waits, if you can imagine such a thing.

Two songs in and I'm already hooked. Something about her vocal style reminds me vaguely of Kelly Clarkson, which is funny cuz I'm not a fan of her music, but yeah, this woman rocks! Thank you. :D

I'm intrigued by this Fefe Dobson chica. Could you recommend one of her albums to me?

Oh yeah. I noticed that you'll be attending one of Ani's shows in February. That's awesome! She puts on one helluva show. I've seen her four times (so far) and she just rocks my fucking world. Best songwriter of all time, in my humble opinion. And those guitar skills! Just wow.

I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed it. Puscifer has put out some of the best music I've heard in years. I love spreading the gospel of my favorite bands/artists, and last.fm makes it easy to do so.
