You mean 2005? I do think they're the spiritual descendants of Sonata Arctica...with the exception that they didn't turn lame after 4 albums.

Am I the only one that thinks ReinXeed is the new Sonata Arctica? I saw the latter in concert c. 1995 and this is identical is feels.

Also (if anyone's here), how would you guys rank the ReinXeed albums? I think mine right now would go like this: 1912 > Higher > The Light > A New World > Welcome to the Theater > Majestic. All of them are great albums, it's just that every song on 1912 is killer while maybe half the songs on Majestic are killer.

Tommy ReinXeed's on vacation now but I hope he has news regarding his band(s) when he returns. It'd be a shame to break the combo of one album per year.

Got the album; so many interesting songs in this one! Apparently Tommy's favorite songs are "The Journey Home" and "Northern Allstars" and I have to agree with him; the drummers' favorite song is "Chalice of Time" and I can see why (very nice drum patterns), Final Destination is actually a re-master of one of the songs on ReinXeed's first EP Lionheart! Now if they released songs 'Lionheart' and 'Future Land' that'd be awesome, even though the latter has obvious influences (Future World anyone?). My favorites, other than the ones already listed, would probably have to be "Guitar Hero" (the one song I've been exposed to the most because of youtube), the long epic "A New World" (which kinda reminds me of SA's White Pearl Black Oceans) and the overlooked "Curse and Damnation". I like all of the songs though. Again, such a good album, better than their previous one in my opinion!

Well...by the looks of it, there's no videogame concept at all. There *might* be some sort of space travelling theme but it's nowhere near as blatant as the titanic and theater themes were. Oh well! Their new album sounds really good from what I hear on youtube, but I doubt it'll surpass their magnum opus "1912". Also, the Vol. II 2 album releases on 25 October over here, so I guess I have to revert back to my original plan and import it anyway...Alsoooo I think I'm the only one on this board so I have no idea why I'm talking to myself. :D

So I was browsing around for info on the new DG album...then I found this pic: http://silentforce.blog.ocn.ne.jp/.shared/image.html?/photos/uncategorized/2013/08/20/dsc_0016.jpg That's right, Swedish Hitz Vol II is coming and I didn't even know! That guy already has both ReinXeed albums!! Arrrgh Japan is the luckiest country ever when it comes to metal :P Now I guess I'll have to wait instead of importing it.

As the release date of the new album is slowly approaching, I was thinking if it's theme-based like the last two ones (Titanic & theater). Stuff like 'Guitar Hero', 'The Journey Home' and 'Final Destination' might be pointing to some sort of videogame concept (one is obvious, the other two might be references to Journey PS3 and Super Smash Bros respectively). I know it's a wild guess so I'm not counting so much on it.

vv Seriously? There are barely any religion elements in the music / songwriting (I can only think of three moments in the entire ReinXeed discography), and the few bits that refer to god are definitely not in-your-face preachy. Even if they were though, I would never reach that point of insecurity where I wouldn't listen to a band simply because it mentions religion. It's not like they sing about decapitating babies or how much they like coprophagia or whatnot.

I FUCKING love this band. Every album is just awesome even the cover compilation album is just amazing. 1912 is one of the greatest Power Metal I've ever heard.

@Lionheartattack hey man, bands like ReinXeed exist because many people enjoy it, it may bore you, but other people have different outlooks on music and enjoy different stuff. Music is among the most subjective of experiences, and that means even something you see as generic will be enjoyed by someone else and something you love will be disliked by another person.....different folks, different strokes, as the saying goes. Not everyone is looking for innovation, some people just wanna chill out and listen to some straight-up melodic euro-power metal.
