I like the version Nick Mason does with his band that bears this name now, complete with crowd participation now https://youtu.be/Xs07EQxLClk?si=6-stZBngP-AkvPPy

In reality, this song is incredible, the composition manages to give me chills and the instrumental in general is just brilliant. Its great on this album though IMO its better live

no clue what people are on about when they say this track is better live. The Studio take is so much better.

Kinda have to agree here, this song is better live and Pompeii's cut is my favorite.

Storm Signal and Celestial Voices are an absolute master-class demonstration of chord progression, and how to create and resolve musical tension.

Nick Mason is kind of underrated as a drummer and the live versions of this song prove it.

Ahhhhhh, the B chord at the end. That final collection of notes that wraps up all the chaos into a happy ending.

One of the rare times Rick used a mellotron. Don't think he used one again after "Atom Heart Mother".

Yeah the live versions own. They are a bit 'harder' and the drums turn it into a beast. The beautiful section at the end is just a bunch of chords. Grab your guitar and bust it.

It amazes me how many Pink Floyd fans don't know this song, for me its easily in the top 5 of their most psychedelic songs.

Avant-garde masterpiece. When I was a kid I had this song all figured out, how it's about an alien spaceship landing in a desert. :)

The organ part gets to me. My father was born in 1940 and learned to play organ, he mostly plays church music but it's exactly what an organist in the Floyd's day would have been exposed to. He is currently 73 years old, has had many close encounters with death by accident or illness and as with everyone it's only a matter of time. This song makes me want to record one of his organ pieces that I've taken for granted my whole life; maybe even to use at the funeral. Usually I only think in this mode when I'm on mushrooms but at this time I'm just high on Pink Floyd. Legendary, eternal, psychedelic. How fitting to record a version of it in a ruined theater in Pompeii.

This song's psychedelicness some how relates very closely to the world, this is amazing
