I'm not sure what's going on with the mixtape competition right now as I haven't seen any posts in the thread since last Sunday, but yours is my favorite of the ones I heard. All the music is great and I loved the commercial-like interludes. Reminds me to look more into Afro-Cuban jazz and to explore electric blues a little more beyond Howlin' Wolf and Little Walter. That Bo Diddley track sounded like it could have been an arrangement lifted directly from an early album by The Who (but obviously the other way around).

Don't know how good the translation is but I recommend it anyway: "White Fever: A Journey to the Frozen Heart of Siberia" by Jacek Hugo-Bader. I think it;s published by Portobello Books. Read it, mate.

Purity Ring is decent electro-pop. The Gaslight Anthem's new one is a bit of a disappointment (nice Tom Petty cover, though). The Alabama Shakes album is pretty good, the first half of it anyway.
