Hi! So I have been there? I don't have good memory. Not much Baltic Germans there, most left before WWII, but I have encountered some older people who have at least one German parent. Many people have German surnames (me too) but this does not automatically mean a German ancestry. But some portion of lower strata Germans might have assimilated into Latvian society even before first independence. But relationships were very tense then. Happy New Year!
