Haha, you contacted me randomly because I was missing a Matt and Isom track. I just ran across the email you sent me the other day with the missing track and I figured I'd friend you. :P Otherwise, I've never met you.

Haha, yeah, I was sure I was going to screw that up, but thanks for setting me straight. I have actually heard of Westbound Train, I really like them and they're actually one of the few reasons I might let myself get dragged to Warped Tour this year. (Others, of course, include Streetlight Manifesto, Big D and the Kids table -not too jazzed on their latest, though- and Less than Jake). I will definitely give another look at RX Bandits, too. I think I mistook them for Synthetic Elements who I used to be a big fan of but I dropped off due to later departures in style that didn't jibe much with me. I like the sound of the Slackers, though, so I'll give them a shot. Thanks for the recommendations!

You know, I've seen the Rx Bandits no less than three times in concert, but I don't think I've ever listened to any of their recorded stuff. I never know where to start! Same goes for older or first-wave stuff. I'm plenty familiar with, like, Madness, and The Specials, and I've been meaning to check out The Skatalites for a while, but like I said, I don't know what's a good place to begin, haha. Any suggestions?

Oh, and this may interest you since you weren't able to attend: A bootleg of the Final Hot IQs show: http://www.theflatresponse.com/2009/06/hot-iqs-farewell-show-6192009-bluebird-theater/ If there's a reason the bass sounds a little weird, it's probably because Bryan had a cookie monster head in front of his face and couldn't see what he was doing, haha.

I saw them open for Cake in Boulder back in 2007, and I was smitten. They were definitely my favorite local group, but considering how little I know about local music I guess that doesn't say too much. I'm in the process of educating myself! Bad Weather California opened for the IQs last night and I really liked their performance, so I got their tracks and I've kind of been going from there. By the way, from your journal's recommendations, I took a look into The Kim Basinger Band and they've blown my mind- I've grown a little weary of the "clowny antics" sort of ska band (Reel Big Fish) and more on to the likes of, say, Catch-22, and these guys totally hit the spot. Where did you hear about them?

Thanks! You too. Actually, sort of good news, friday's show wasn't their very last show, apparently they're playing a short set at the Larimer Lounge August first or second, but I won't be able to go to that since I'm going to be in California. Friday's show, though, was amazing. I'm curious to know, how did you first find out about the Hot IQs?

Yeah, it's a loaded question. But a good one. I'd give a listen to ZOX, The Ditty Bops, Reeve Oliver, The New Pornographers, and TV on the Radio. There's really nothing on your list to suggest this, but The Go! Team is amazing. You could try Roper, which is Reese of Five Iron Frenzy and has a similar sound, sans horns. Hope there's a decent suggestion or two on there.

Thanks! My name IS from a Myriad song, good catch. You have some pretty random taste, but that's awesome. Now I have to figure who all these bands are!

I really haven't, It's a bummer :(. Favorite acts? On Friday, Cake was mindblowing, and Born In The Flood (local!) knocked my socks off. Saturday, Margot, because they're one of my favorite bands anyway. The Lips, because we were in the second row (had to camp out spot since we entered), and Spoon was epic. And yeah, from what I've seen, Mute Math live is sweet. Have you seen the Reset video?

I hope to go to the Mute Math/Eisley show. I like MM enough, and Eisley is number one on my recommended list. Wasn't Monolith fun? Who do you think was your favorite act?
