undeniably recorded like shit by people who just didn't care anymore, and yet i keep coming back to it.

Their best album with Amputechture and Frances the Mute. Hope that if they decide to come back, they do something in the vein of this because this is an awesome sound.

I know it's a hard truth to swallow because one wants to believe that this is "intellectual" music. But it sounds like late MCR stuff (danger days..., conventional weapons etc)

It's my first proper listen of TMV (only heard WTAMG years before that) and for some reason I just sat with my jaw dropped throughout the first half of the album - didn't care much about all that came after The Malkin Jewel. But idk, I just got this feeling of falling in love with a band, and it wasn't just a feeling, I got pretty hooked! And while I think nothing can beat FTM, now that I have gotten into the second half of the album as well, I think it's my second favourite of theirs. It just feels complete, you know? And that first impression mattered tons!

No puedo evitar pensar que se separaron por darse cuenta que estaban yendo en una dirección que no correspondía a TMV y prefirieron empezar otro proyecto.

I honestly think this might be my favorite from them. And I was with them from the beginning.

It's not bad but pretty weak by TMV standards, my second least favorite after Bedlam.

It is my firm belief that this album is a metaphor for Cedric's relationship with Omar as a friend and as an artist. While the story he's trying to tell may be what the theme is on the surface, the frustration Cedric has expressed with puts this record in a whole new light. Cedric is the boy with the voice in his knives, and Omar is holding the whip hand.

De-Loused>Frances>Noctourniquet>Ampetechture>Octahedron Thats how I would rank them :P

I also don't get all the hate this album receives. I've been listening to it since it leaked, and I really love it. (Except for The Whip Hand, which I can't listen to.) It's beautiful in a haunting, supremely unsettling way. Deloused = Frances > Bedlam = Noctourniquet >>> Octahedron >>> Amputechture

I don't understand why people bitch about this album. What is SO un-Volta about it? It is them tackling a new sound and they do it effortlessly. Aegis, Dyslexicon, freaking Zed and Two Naughts, some of the best work they've done since Frances the Mute. People are acting like they went Nickelback on this album. It is still as boundary pushing as their previous albums. El Grupo my ass, that album was pure cacophony that had barely any structure. I couldn't ask for a better album for this band to depart to. I love it.

This is probably the TMV album where they autotuned Cedric's voice the least. Which to me is a big downside to this album. Just listen to his voice on Frances compared to this. I don't like this album very much, though that might chance, but I do apprecciate their need for change. I have such a big respect for Omar as an artist.
