Never trust a list of "the best post-punk albums" that does not include "Sleep No More" (at least) among top 7

Not every great band ever gets the full 'success' or recognition they deserve. There's a lot of great bands and albums left in obscurity, especially in the 80s. Comsat Angels are definitely among them and it might remain that way because their stuff isn't that easily accessible across the net. Some stuff is hard to find on youtube and spotify doesn't even have an actual studio album by them. Comsat Angels are great though, especially Fiction and Sleep No More. Another band with a similar fate is Shy Reptiles. They released one album, had 0 exposure and aren't on spotify either now. No re-issues ever done. You can even find a song by them on youtube called Swollen Dream, that nobody seems to know where it's from. That's how obscure they are. It's a shame, but not all good bands get the love they deserve

"Something's Got To Give" is a real hidden treasure. I was honoured to spread the word about this gem.

Из своей когорты они явно не самые яркие, но отличные песни у них все-таки есть. Их влияние на первоначальную шугейз-сцену трудно переоценить, в особенности на Kitchens of Disctinction и Catherine Wheel.

I've gotten more familiar with the rest of their discography and I really enjoy it all . It's very cool how even when they changed their sound a bit they remained a great band. Songs like "Stay Tonight", "Island Heart", "Nature Trails" and "You Move Me" prove that they could make awesome music even when making a more Synthpop/New Wave/ Pop Rock type of direction . I really like their third era albums ("Chasing Shadows" and onward) a lot too. In my humble opinion, these guys are criminally underrated and are top tier Post-Punk. I consider them to be a personal favorite of mine !

Sleep No More is still one of my top 10 (of around 100 albums) post-punk albums and the debut one is strong too, My Mind's Eye is weaker but still has great choruses. Finally I tried Fiction. It is very good. And Andy Peake must be one of my personal keyboard heroes of post-punk music. I like his work especially on Sleep No More and now Fiction.

Agree wholeheartedly with the last 2 posts. They were excellent live too! I've lost count how many times I've seen them, 5 I think.

communism sux man. coz it's usually run by tyrants. if by will of the people aka socialism it tends to be better but you always encounter the greedy who have to be regulated - believe in peoples innate ability to organize - aka anarchy [do unto others etc] - why is this great band not on spotify? they are i'm listening to them right now - brilliant band - time we had a new album from them. cheers folks 'have a gud un'

politics is a science??? an i thought it was an art. after all 'art can be anything' according to the N.E.Thing Company. "communism sux" did i say that? - a few commas missing in that first sentence "if, by will of the people, (aka socialism) it tends to be better [better run{organised}]+[acknowledgement of the and the actions of - the collective [French revolution gone BAAD baby ((best mike myers voice))] but historically, in whatever form it's out right condemned by the right wing as it slaps the face of capitalism. however 'control' usually ends in tyrannical action - [see 'the tory party' and read everything upside down and backwards to find out what they REALLY mean when they say "it's all about individual choice"]

nope, can't find it... i really can't remember what that was in response to. it MUST have been a previous post that has since been removed. trailing the thread back there is no mention of communism - i think it may have been a fip comment by someone not so keen on Comsat Angels. - Waiting For a Miracle - FANTASTIC ALBUM. klubngage.org

Monkey Pilot from their debut album is one of their best songs. Incredible development in that song. However I think the chorus appearing near the end is totally unnecessary in my opinion. It almost destroys the atmosphere and all that build up. That's why I'm skipping the last 25 seconds so as if the chorus never appeared for the 3rd time.

Finally Waiting For A Miracle is growing on me. Took me that long only because I just never listened to that album for years. Sleep No More is still one of my absolute favourite post-punk albums (followed by maybe 100 others, can't get enough of this era of music)

Can't find them on spotify folks??? Type in "Comsat Angels" Rather than "The Comsat Angels". Do the same with "The Pixies" or any other band with "The" in front of their name. Happy listening guys!! :)

Along with "The Sound". Probably the most underrated band ever! And that's my statement!! :)

Most songs on My Minds Eye (1992) have a very strong chorus and a nice sound. But much more straightforward than Sleep No More. It always follows the 3x chorus routine. But as I wrote before, the big strength of this album is the chorus of most songs. very good album but I like the bleaker, icy cold Sleep No More the most.
