idk why people get so heated when prince said it was Sinead's his is still amazing and all the different versions stand on their own and in their own ways

Prince's version isn't the best just because it's the original, but just because its THE BEST.

Prince is genius of course, and the original is the original, but Sinead took it to the next level.

Um, yes. It’s commonly accepted that this is one of the few covers that improves on - or brings something very new out - the original.

I love Prince's music usually, and I really wanted to hear his version of his song because I love the one Sinead did, but this doesn't sound like Prince It does sound like a sad Rudolph (the red-nosed)

I don't know what version this is that came up thanks to YouTube, but I'm not a fan. Doesn't sound like Prince at all and I'm just not feeling it.

For anyone saying this is a wonderful cover, Prince actually wrote this song. Sinead's version is the cover. I believe that the studio version of this song is on Prince's 1st album, titled "Prince" (early 80s). Check it out! By the way, I love both versions - both artists are amazing and bring their own genius to the song.

No, it's not on Prince's 1st album, which is actually "For You". It's not on 2nd album "Prince" either.

My favourite version is the one he played solo live with Eric Leeds on sax. It's brilliant...I also love the duet he did with Rosie G, never gets old.

Sinead's version is so superior, I can't believe people think Prince's is better. W.T.F. [2]

I haven't heard the live version with Rosie. I've only heard a Prince studio version which is much, much better than Sinead's version.

Sinead did a good job, but it is hard to beat the live version with Rosie Gaines hitting the high notes, and the sax solo.

No need to compare, just enjoy the music for what it is. Prince and Rosie Gaines do an outstanding job.

wow. Hands down Sinead's version is far superior. I am a big Prince fan, but he never connects with this song emotionally. I think it's clear because even though he wrote the song he never promoted it. It wasn't until Sinead turned it into a number one hit that he even began to perform it. I can feel every pounding heartbeat of Sinead's as she sings this song. It resonates with me far more than Prince's version as he appears to be going through the motions. I agree the sax solo is beautiful, but Sinead's version will always be top. To address the criticism of her tears during the video, I read that she dedicated that song to her mother of whom she had a very difficult relationship with. Whatever the reason....her version totally rocks!!

If you love her, ladies and gentlemen, show her now. I love the sax. And Candy. And Prince. Amazing cover.

Live duet with Rosie Gaines completely destroys Sinead's cover any and every day of the week.
