@glisenshlump Huge all over Europe since the early 60s, big news Down Under since the 70s, well-known in Japan, successfully toured South-East Asia many times, even took off in Latin America through her Spanish language work and toured the US and Canada with Harry Bellafonte. Your "feeling" is miles away from reality, mate.

I have a feeling that she was never really that successful, and her label or publicist has done a really good job inflating all her successes. I don't understand how a novelty covers act like her can possibly sell that well. Does anyone know if people actually attend her tours?

Older generations bought her LPs by the millions - she had a prominent career as a MOR balladeer in many major countries while singing in 7+ languages throughout most of the 60s-80s. Dalida (who enjoyed similar success within a similar demographic), by comparison, never really conquered English-language countries and sold almost as many records.

There's a new comp out soon that features Nana's 1962 sessions in America with Quincy Jones! It's out on El/Cherry Red
