ルートヴィヒ・ヴァン・ベートーヴェン（Ludwig van Beethoven、1770年12月16日ごろ（洗礼を受けたのが12月17日であることしかわかっていない） - 1827年3月26日）は、ドイツの作曲家。ボン生まれ。 ベートーヴェンは、作曲家としてデビューしたての初期の頃は耳疾に悩まされることもなく古典派様式に忠実な明るく活気に満ちた作品を書いていたが、ハイドン、モーツァルトの強い影響下にあることは否めない。 ベートーヴェンの音楽は、古典派からロマン派への橋渡しを行ったと古くから言われている。それでもベートーヴェン自身はウィーン古典派に属する最後の巨匠と見るのが普通である。それは1802年と1818年頃の2度の危機に、当時E.T.A.ホフマンなど台頭しつつあったロマン派には興味を示さず、むしろハイドンとモーツァルトが完成したソナタ形式などの音楽形式や調性、そしてバッハの遺した対位法に集中し、それを活用する道を選んだからである。 1802年の1度目の危機とは遺書を書いた精神的な危機である。ベートーヴェンはこの危機を、ウィーン古典派の形式を再発見する事により脱出した。つまりウィーン古典派の2人の先達よりも、徹底して形式的・法則的なものを追求した。この後は中期と呼ばれ、コーダの拡張など古典派形式の拡大に成功した。結局の所交響曲第3番「エロイカ」やピアノ協奏曲第5番… もっと読む
