I have loved Keith Jarrett for 32 years! I missed him during his "hiatus" times. He is important to our jazz and one of the best ever. Glad you included him in this station. I saw him perform once and it is a highlight of my concert history. Thanks for the listen.

Holy shit this man is the perfection of jazz impromptu period that's it! Vienna Concert, Koln Concert, Paris Concert. Shit a trio of jazz brilliance - unparalleled by any other jazz piano performance I know of.

@AdriaNnLA, You're right, normally applause is really annoying, but they were just happy that Keith Jarrett played. The curators even had a lot of problems at the concert in Köln previously. Jarrett didn't get the concert grand what was planned for the concert, slept not very well at night etc. He already wanted to leave the city and only stayed, because the local host intreat him to. The recording-technicians cancelled the record and as they heard that he will play, they decided to make just a record for internal use - which was "The Köln Concert" in the end :-) Watch here: (but it's German) http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_K%C3%B6ln_Concert#Hintergrund_der_Aufnahme

I saw the Standards Trio in Vancouver once and when Jarrett walked onstage the PA system was making some kind of noise, maybe cycle hum. Jarrett cocked his ear, looked around, and said: "There's a G natural...floating in space..." Then he started playing.

this is one of the best pieces of music there is. I imagine this music being played when Gabriel and Maria (did not?) made love.
