a bit surprised to see that there's hardly any shouts here praising (or otherwise) their album, which btw is one of the most original albums in all of death metal, no kidding..complex and twisted, yet dark and thought-provoking.

haha deathcore ? :D it's a very complex album with many elements etc, so yeah it takes several rounds of listening to grow into ! don't ignore the lyrics, probably the only DM band whose lyrics is worth some real shit, way too cerebral and mature for your usual DM though haha

yeah idk. i'm saying that with a fond love for deathcore though. i wished the genre had never drifted off into a circlejerk for scene hipsters. but i guess i saw it coming even fifteen years ago. i'll actually just listen to abiogenesis again, right now, reading along with the lyrics. we'll see what i have to say afterwards. i liked taphos' lyrics, they're pretty good; and the alien stuff in blood incantation's lyrics, too, but that's honestly more for the gimmick than anything else.

all that alien shit is comical to me, it's the new trend in underground DM lately...abiogenesis lyrics is IMO more appropriate to those existentialist/nihilist types in dissonant BM circles; just reads closer to that spirit than anything morally and thematically fitting to DM per se..as such, unless this becomes a more common thing, abiogenesis type shit is always going to be a unique and too-brainy type shit in the DM world..

Well, it's been a couple of years since the album came out and I think everyone might have moved along over to Engulfed. I agree with you, though. Abiogenesis is a modern classic that I continuously come back to, and it is a bit more than simple Incantation/Dead Congregation worship.

the main man behind this band (cihan akun) is not part of engulfed and hasnt moved on to anything else either.. he's in process of writing his/their next album.. the other members from engulfed etc dont play primary roles in writing and composition.

new album is solid shit..very different from their previous material..a huge Immolation influence here and very old school NYDM-like.

the new album is looking to be one of the best of the year. if y'all haven't heard "Phantasmagoric Transcendence" you really should go out of your way to do so asap.

yes exactly....and it pisses me off...it's as if people think the swedish style was the only major death metal scene/style in the old days...it's a fucking offense and ignorance against all other good scenes and styles of and from those days...anyway, yes besides the Finnish-ness to a certain extent, I believe it also heavily has the Incantation and old Autopsy influences.

weird review...this is not so much "swedish style" death metal as has been repeatedly written there...it has only a little flavor of the swedish style in the guitar tone...calling this "Swedish" is like calling Incantation or Autopsy or Disciples of Mockery as being "swedish style" lol...

and there can NOT be a negative review, unless the reviewer's death metal taste sucks..
