The Doctor’s Orders have shifted venues and gears. They mark the occasion with their biggest line up to date packed with the most incredible Hip-Hop talents from both sides of the pond. Already firmly established as the No.1 Hip-Hop party in the UK, after 8 years in the game, this move to Scala in Kings Cross and the line ups that gives them the chance to put on will see their reputation soar and with line ups like this it is little wonder.
DJ Premier is bar none the single most respected and influential producer in Hip-Hop, not just today but for the past 30 odd years. His signature ‘Boom Bap’ sound, honed through his years as one half of the legendary Gang Starr, alongside the late great GURU, is the definitive sound not only of ‘Golden Era’ Hip-Hop but of New York Hip-Hop as a whole.
Having produced bangers for all of Hip-Hop’s greatest MCs his discography is the most complete of any producer ever. From Biggie & Jay-z to Busta & Nas to Luda & Snoop & even as far as Limp Bizkit & Christina Aguilera there is no one that DJ Premier hasn’t worked with without ever loosing that signature ‘Premo Sound’.
When not in the studio he is constantly on the decks either recording his ‘Live from HQ” podcast or touring and it is this constant drive that keep him one of the most exciting DJs to hear in a genuine club setting as you will here tonight.
Joining him is another of one of Hip-Hop’s most influential names Peanut Butter Wolf. Having founded Stones Throw Records back in 1996, after a 7 year learning curve of recording and releasing through various labels, this California native is hugely responsible for the development of Hip-Hop since. Through discovering and help guide the careers of a dream team of talent including Madlib, J-Dilla, Mayer Hawthorne, MF Doom, Aloe Blacc and many more his impact is unquestionable.
An avid vinyl collector and archivist of music many of us can not imagine, never mind collect, tonight Peanut Butter Wolf spins an exclusive AV set mixing many of the music videos and live performances that have been his inspiration over the years. Expect a fun packed ride of anything and everything from classic Hip-Hop to stomping Soul and way beyond!
Also known for packing a fun party punch with their incredible ability to move a crowd is the UK’s finest tag team, The Nextmen. Brad Baloo & Dom Search have been setting clubs and festival stages alight since their debut in 2000 and for the last couple of years have become firm favourites of The Doctor’s Orders regulars. Tonight will be no exception as they go back to back spinning a typical selection of Hip-Hop, Reggae, exclusive bootlegs and all manner of fuel to set the dance-floor alight.
The Doctor’s Orders would be nowhere and are going nowhere without it’s residents! Headed and hand picked by the man with the plan Spin Doctor they are the UK’s best Hip-Hop DJ, ask anyone, Mr Thing and our long time party starters Chris P Cuts & Mo Fingaz. As ever on mic duties is the cheeky chappy MC Pranksa and as a special guest we are blessed by Breakin’ Bread’s Kazahaya.
