Last thing - if you dug that Tears of the Black Tiger track, you will love 'Sound of Siam - Leftfield Luk Thung, Jazz & Molam in Thailand 1964-1975 ', and not from Thailand but just over the border and equally awe-inspiring, 'Dengue Fever presents Electric Cambodia'. TRUST ME.

Well that's jolly nice of you to say! Although there are some older attempts at videos on there that are embarrassing... The 'empty park' track is indeed a gem. I tracked down some more of their tunes for free download about 100 years ago which are long gone now; even reached out to them on MySpace and they replied in barely decipherable English.

whaaaat how did they manage to do that? :~( even so, a*bc is a truly admirable grade!! Wow, America! Do you know where abouts in the US you'll be? Ahhh no way! That's mint, yes definitely, it'd be so cool to hang out. and I'll be taking up that offer of a tour, I'm such a newb I know nothing! My classes start on the 30th september, but freshers week is the 23rd so I'll probably move in a few days before then. I still have to arrange it though, I'm not living in halls (because they put me in one in bloody acton so I declined the offer) but instead with some artists that my dad vaguely knows who live in camberwell, so that should be something. What're your plans for september? Ok so you've convinced me that interrailling is amazing, I'm definitely going plan in advance and do that with ma boyf when we have the funds!

Ooooh I'm always taking suggestions for next year's holidays so I'll keep Ljubljana and Berlin in mind! Although after watching Before Sunrise (have you seen it? absolutely amazing film!) Vienna is on the cards too! Was interrailling particularly expensive? Compared to other holidays you've been on, where you've stayed in one city/place? Oh so you'll be living and studying in Brighton in 2014?? You are soo lucky, I love Brighton! Plus american and history studies should be great too. That sounds so good, just spending a year to yourself and indulging your hobbies/earning some dosh. Sometimes I think that I should have taken a gap year too but I really feel like a change of scene was necessary. So yes, London it is! I'll be studying illustration at camberwell and of course I'll be spending money for important things on gigs so it's probable I'll run into ya now and again! But really I only have like 2 friends in london so that's an incredibly scary thought :-o

Glad to hear you both had a good time!! so berlin was your favourite place out of them all? actually my boyfriend and I were in amsterdam last weekend.. such a great city with fantastic food. It's really surreal looking at van gogh's paintings isn't it? his work definitely does not have the same emotional effect in books than in the flesh! also, i've been meaning to ask (although i might've asked this before), what plans have you got for next year? are you uni-ing or taking a break from the educational system? :~)

Yo, thanks for spinning BM's 2012 so many times <3 We just released an LP with 2012 in it, you can find it here. It'd also be rad if you liked our Facebook page for updates and stuff.

oh, deerhunter ATP was possibly one of the best festivals I will ever experience. I can't even begin to describe how good it was- the excellence was all due to the music/bands, the comfortable chalets, the location, the passionate fans and the friends I went with! Bradford really worked his arse off too, which I fully admire, he played as atlas sound, did 3 deerhunter performances, did a Q&A and a DJ set (and way more)... what a guy! But honestly, if you can gather people to go to one of the End of an Era atp festivals, I really couldn't recommend it enough!! it's really something else :~)

hey will !! sorry for the lateness, i'm getting so much worse at being diligent with my replies. But I'm ashamed to say that I haven't actually heard VW's latest record yet! I'm delving into past albums of 70s bands at the moment and I'm forgetting to keep up to date with new releases (I need to make more of an effort too) :~( Although having said this I did give Slow Summits a few spins (on your recommendation!) and I love it sooo much. It's the dreamiest and softest music around, absolutely perfect for summer. Infact I think I'm going to have another listen of it right now!

haha you didn't like sean nicholas savage?? aw but he was so entertaining! I don't think I could ever listen to a recording of his music (judging by the live performance), but I agree that he had a definite look of Buscemi/Macauly Culkin about him, plus he did give the audience a few good laughs. oh god I could imagine, ugh lads ruin the best of things with their unnecessary mosh pits/ignorance (ok one time I went to see the drums live and I'm surprised I made it out alive)! plus you couldn't really expect a lad/many people to understand AC's music if they hadn't listened to it before. but the lineup looked good. did you see everyone you wanted to?

yo. no it doesn't still happen - i'm not in london any more. hopefully one day i'll be back! tbh it never got off the ground. now that you've reminded me of it i'm gonna ask if any of the members wants to take over so it might be worth joining anyway.

yes! i went to his gig yesterday and WAS THAT NOT ONE OF THE BEST GIGS OF YOUR LIFE?????? he's such a good showman, waaa I just have a whole new appreciation for mac (and his band) now! I was so phased for like an hour after I'd seen him, couldn't believe how brilliant he was with his sound and his band and the audience and just everything. and I think I'm definitely going to go to the end of an era atp, it is one of the last festivals and what other chance will we get to see televison play marquee moon?! (haha i say this and they'll probably tour or something) so yeah, get yourself there! plus there's always something about the "end" of things that almost guarantees an insane time. I think I'm going to wait until I've experienced deerhunterfest before I buy any tickets though, just so that I know it'll definitely be worth it!

I haven't heard this surprisingly! I'm defo getting on it now though, I love anything David Byrne- and i'll check them out too, cheers for the suggestions! AaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAaAaAAaaaaaaa that is so good to hear, I swear with every new Lekman fan my heart size increases a little more, he is just the loveliest person and I wish everyone could know of him! you think you love him now, just wait until you get to see him live........

thanks will! ooh yes I got two very special records this year-The Astrud Gilberto Album (bossa nova at it's absolute finest!!) and Future Days by CAN (luv dat krautrock). And yeah I really enjoyed the album, saw you posted it on facebook so thought I'd give it a listen (I find myself trusting your musical opinions over most of my other friends on facebook ha, they have no clue!) and I couldn't help but think "Mac Demarco" when I heard his voice, which of course is a great thing! but yes it really is perfect summer hanging out music, and so I thought the album was suitably hazy and delicate to the ears. It's just a shame there's another band on spotify called graves who are apparently the genre of "horrorpunk" or something, gave me a reet shock that's for sure

haha will do, no age + dan d. are definitely high up on the deerhunter fest list! aaaaaah wow that sounds absolutely amazing, what a good variety of countries! yes actually i've heard tales of slovenia's picturesque scenery, you reaaally can't forget your camera! :D oh, amsterdam's lovely. we stayed in a fancy hotel, but considering you're going to be going to lots of other places, the youth hostels are actually good there. i would say you should get yourself to the van gogh museum (it's insane seeing his paintings for real), albeit a little busy- vondelpark is a nice place to visit, leidesplein, weed cafes, street markets, hortus (a big botanical garden), look out for gigs because they get some excellent bands there. there really is so much more too haha :~)

awww man, i keep asking people to see if i know anyone else going to deerhunter fest (apart from my group obviously!) and no one seems to be off! i suppose it's just a festival for an acquired taste eh. all these festivals sound so good, i swear there weren't as many amazing line ups in previous years as there are this year (it's almost a curse.. how can you decide?)! oooh which countries are you going to visit on your interrails? and no, haven't got a job yet- i'm waiting until i turn 18 (only a month or so away) so i can work in my cousin's pub for the summer. yeah apparently you can't even collect glasses now if you're under 18 in pubs, simply ridiculous!

i know what you mean, it really isn't quite "microcastle" is it? the dreaminess that i love about their previous albums isn't in the track monomania but i still have hope for the rest of the album. aah yeah i saw that too, the way bradford walks off at the end... i don't know, he's really turning into a proper diva these days! and deerhunter fest is still on the cards, maybe end of the road if i can get anyone interested! but i think i'll be earning money this summer over all else :~) what about you?

I've noticed you have listened to my project NYKDLN in the past, considering, I'd like to share with you my manifesto and opus 'Post Radio' released today on 2 c62 cassettes and also available as a free download from Sunup Recordings. I'd love it if you gave it a listen. :) http://sunuprecordings.bandcamp.com/album/post-radio :)

realistically it's probably having to listen to someone tell you why rock is the only worthwhile music genre and hip-hop is not real music. while lostprophets plays in the background, slowly gaining volume as you lose the will to live.

i'm not the biggest radiohead fan now, but when i was younger i really was. they got me into jazz and hip-hop and blues and shit so they were kinda pivotal for me. i totally will when i go on it next, i don't use it for much so i keep forgetting my password :(

i'd probably rather experience it straight. or at least relatively sober. really want to get back into to going to live things, mad excited for radiohead in a fortnight

i'm going on my own actually, lol. gonna be right depressing. i've wanted to catch them live for a long, long time though so i'm really excited. provided i get tickets, ofc.

nah it's cool, i really don't mind. thanks though! <3 oh yeah i still need to get tickets for AC. i'll have money tomorrow so i'll do it then. oxbridge really doesn't appeal at all, and sussex is a little too close to home. i was thinking of doing american studies but, i don't know. i really have no idea, which is why i'm taking a year out. i'm kind of hoping i'll get an internship before i have to bother with uni. don't really want £50,000 of debt before i even own my own property ;-;

nah it's cool bro, my parents split up, i don't really care. i've thought about it a bit and i really want to go to uni in america - other than that, brighton could be good. i'm taking a year out after this year though, need to work/get some life experience. whatever happens, I want to do an english course, maybe be a teacher if the journalism thing falls through. what about yourself?

I know right, tossing my anonymity away like it's nowt. nothing more disturbing than my own mug grinning at me like an idiot. school is supposed to be stressful, I guess; i'm just consoling myself with the knowledge that this is my last year. one more year and then i'm free to fuck my life up. feels good. i'm pretty cool man, thanks. i've been getting over a lot of change at home so i'm probably gonna start blogging again soon

Wow thats sick, I wish i got to go to more concerts. I see you're going to see Dan Deacon, that should be really cool. I would say I really like japandroids, purity ring, and dirty projectors of course the most so far this year. I would still say Dance for you is my favorite. I feel like theres not a ton of good stuff this year. But my band has been doing pretty well, which is really cool. We played our first bigger show and we have another one in a few weeks. Im really excited haha
