Hi tombee! We saw that you have a pretty good taste in music and thought that you'd maybe like our music as well. We are three girls from the forests of Sweden and we are going to record our very first album in Woodstock this summer! We would love if you checked out this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BmTj6CzmAp4 ! Let us know what you think (it's much appreciated) by commenting the video, and also check out our cover of 'Kathy's Song' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44kjqZUC5PU that we got the chance to play live for Paul Simon! Nah, sorry to get your hopes up, there's no new Standard Fare record (unless you count the 'Suitcase' single), I just meant that I've really got into the album this year. The single and b-side are both ace. I think they're working on a new one, will hopefully see them next month. They're at the Fox & Newt in Leeds in November too, if you haven't seen. Listening to the Alessi's Ark album now and yeah, I really like it. Nice and poppy. Yeah, the Fionn album is lovely, but I wouldn't expect the NME to recognise that fact. It's been years since I even looked in there for musical inspiration! Btw, have you heard the new Fanfarlo track? Pretty different to the first album - I quite like it: http://www.fanfarlo.com/news/replicate

Yeah, a bold move indeed, it went down a storm though I heard - got Ted quite aroused, both metaphorically and literally, by all accounts. *doesn't know where to look* Gosh, that's a killer line-up for you so far, isn't it?! I've become terrible since getting ad-free Spotify, if it's not on there I find it very hard to hear it, hence why I haven't the Callahan record yet. Shame on me. I shall check out some of those, although I wasn't bowled over by Kurt Vile. Only played it a couple of times though. On the subject of Callahan, check out The Burning Hell - they sound a bit like Herman Dune with Bill on vocals - worth a listen, I'll be interested to know whether you like them or loathe them! Check out the 'Baby' album. Other things I've been enjoying this year include Help Stamp Out Loneliness, Zoey Van Goey, Standard Fare and the new Wave Pictures album, which is a real leap forward from them. Super stuff. All of that is pretty indiepop but there's no shortage of tunes!

Yeah, the last one was a bit patchy wasn't it? 'Protection Racket' is still a great song though. He's not at EOTR, no, but he seems to be annoucing some dates at the moment so hopefully he'll play somewhere near here. What else has been floating your boat this year then? I really like the Wild Beasts album - wouldn't say I love it just yet but it's only a matter of more plays, I'm sure. The Bon Iver one is almost completely different to the first, isn't it? I've been enjoying a fair bit of indiepop this year so I'm a bit out of the loop on other things, unfortunately!

I like it a lot, mate, a real return to form for me. Some really beautiful songs on there, 'North Star Lover' is up there with anything he's ever done. How about you?

Yeah, I thought it was next week so that was a pleasant surprise! What are you making of it so far? It's almost like a different artist to the first record isn't it? I need to play it some more but I like it so far.

The Fionn gig sounds like it was a cracker then. He seems to have changed direction a bit doesn't he, if Protection Racket is anything to go by. Really looking forward to the new album though, and hopefully he'll play these shores again soon. Somewhat foolishly I didn't get a ticket for Frightened Rabbit, and it had sold out by the time I got round to doing it. D'oh! Should've gone really but I didn't know anyone else who was going and a packed gig is no fun on your own, is it? I'm getting old, you know! Setlist looked good though, you're right, and the single bodes well for the new album. Good stuff!

You jammy, jammy git! Frightened Rabbit cancelling but Fionn Regan playing that night anyway. Some people have all the luck! Yeah, let me know what you make of the new stuff. I didn't see The Phantom Band, no. Sounds like I should've gone along. I do really like the album but I wasn't sure they were a must-see, unfortunately. Damn. Oh yeah, Blue Roses are playing here on Friday night, at Lee Rosy's. I expect all my friends will be off to see Darren Hayman. Bugger. I might pop along though - just listening now and she's got a lovely voice.

Ah yeah, maybe it was, I'd forgotten about that! Glad you like them anyway, that last album in particular is a cracker. New album out in March (I think) too, I see. I'm seeing them here in Nottingham the night after you, so don't wear them out for us! Not heard the Blue Roses album, sounds really interesting though, I'll check it out, ta!

Oooof, call yourself a fan?! ;-) Only joking. Yeah, there's a definite swagger and really poppy feel to it - full of hooks, just the way I like it. Did you find a proper mp3 of it? I can send you it if not. Thanks for the Frightened Rabbit one, I'd heard it but didn't have a download - yeah, it's a cracking song. You seeing them on tour?

Alright? What do you make of 'Protection Racket' then? I'm sure you've had the demo version but what's your verdict on the finished article? Dare I suggest those guitars sound a bit Libertines-esque?!

More accurately, I can scrobble Fanfarlo, just not that easily. If you were wondering why they're showing up as being played yesterday! P.S. Do you like Frightened Rabbit? A bit more indie, Scottish, great hooks, I think you'd like.

Yeah, perfect for the summer weather isn't it? As is the Fanfarlo record which is absolutely stunning IMO. I only got it last week and have been playing it pretty much non-stop since then (I can't scrobble it though sadly). Just played the new Wild Beasts single - it's a bit good isn't it? Excellent stuff. Hmmm, recommendations - not new really but have you heard Jonquil? Difficult to describe really - kind of brooding folk, some Beirut in there, perhaps the Animal Collective at their more laid-back, quite lo-fi but really good. Check out the 'Lions' album - I'll 'share' it with you if you like. I've also become a bit obsessed with The Magnetic Fields of late - kind of classic sounding pop songs of love, with a rich, warm, Scott Walker-esque voice. I'm rubbish at describing stuff but they're highly infectious - the 'i' album is particularly great. Anything I should check out that you've discovered?

It's really good that Spinto Band album isn't it? I only picked it up at the weekend for a couple of quid, thought it must be worth a punt for that and lo, it was! Just one of those bands I've never really got round to listening to. Good record though, hooks aplenty.

Ha, how on earth did that happen? Did you get a promo copy or something? In a way you're quite lucky though, having some 'new' Fionn tracks to discover for the first time, while already knowing how good he is. 'Noah (Ghost In A Sheet)' is great, yeah. It's an amazing album though. The line-up of Stag & Dagger does look great, yeah - should be cool if you can catch some of the Phantom Band, I definitely like what I've heard of them so far. Also, I saw you mentioned the The Week That Was album earlier - really good isn't it? Are you a Field Music fan then? They haven't quite matched the s/t debut for me, but they're a really interesting band - it's a great record that debut.

I must confess I'm not as much of a Libertines/all-things-Doherty fan as I used to be but I saw him on Jonathan Ross and it definitely sounded like he'd found they key to the tune cupboard again. Probably helps having a decent producer too. Was that at that Live in Leeds thing? I'm jealous! Hope we hear something new, especially from Fionn, soon, it's been way too long. You doing any of the festivals this year? That Stag & Dagger thing looks really good - alas I'm away that weekend, otherwise I'd be tempted, but it's a cracking line-up!

So last.fm thinks we have similar tastes in music. Well if it's true, and you like Jens Lekman, Magnetic Fields, and Jonathan Richman and self-depricating pop songs, then you might like my "band" [artist]Matisse and Carrots[/artist]. It's on iTunes, MySpace and CD Baby too.
