btw this is what I wrote in response in case you didn't see it cause that shoutbox moves by fast: The Stranglers were older, smarter and more talented than most of the Punk bands in 1977, and it shows, their rhythmic counterpoint and rapid shifts are as tight as a virgins asshole, my favorite albums is Black and White but its really beneficial to explore their albums from the beginning to at least the early 80s, (singles, EPs too) the best you can get is this: http://www.discogs.com/Stranglers-The-Old-Testament-The-UA-Studio-Recordings-1977-1982/release/4622284 which pretty much has all that essential stuff, its what I have and I think its still available for a bargain price too, like $20 for like 7+ albums!

Are you familiar with the band Chaos Echœs? I feel as if you would find them interesting as their approach to black/death metal is rooted primarily in the ethos of free jazz/improv and krautrock and the catchings of ritual ambient. They even go so far as to quote Wayne Shorter on their bandcamp page. It's very idealistically complex in nature and not too dissimilar from Aluk Todolo, albeit much more rooted in death metal. If you're not familiar, I highly suggest you check out their album "Transient".

yeah, I guess that kind of subject matter goes hand'n'hand with Prog/Psych, for me zeuhlish journey's into space to find a better world and utopian societies of alien creatures is good Prog escapism, but then I also have a friend who believes there is a space station buried out here in New Mexico and that obama is a reptilian, haha!
