You should listen to your mother's advice :) Atlas Shrugged is one of the best books I've ever read (best "fiction" in any case, but it has close ties to current reality), and I've read a few. You tell them to either study basic economics or simply take a look at Europe instead of swallowing the stereotypical stuff socialists feed them about it. The whole healthcare and "welfare" system (along with the strangling taxation it causes, which creates both massive unemployment and poor economic growth and debt) is dragging Europe into the abyss. What Obama is and has been doing is essentially "buying" votes with tax payer money. Think about it. "Healthcare" provided by the state drives up the prices and creates all kinds of abuses (too much to list here), but to give you just [url=http://www.cato-at-liberty.org/2007/05/09/the-welfare-state-causes-sickness/]one example[/url]. I suggest you read Atlas Shrugged as fast as you can, it deals with similar stuff. You'll like it, I promise :)
