ya that's how i felt about the porto festival too. i wanted more music options and the city felt quite sleepy and laid-back. i probably won't do off actually. there's a lot of overlap with the nos primavera line-up i just saw.

ah that's too bad, it was fun. i'm gonna try to do primavera in barcelona next year, depending on the line-up. that's the one that i miss!

yea it's not the most memorable primavera line-up but i looked at it again just now and there are still a few dozen bands i really want to see. but then i live in china where there are only 3 good gigs a month on average...

i really, really want to go to a festival in europe next year. just got to figure out which one and then plan it out.

Hope you enjoyed "What Time is It There", sometimes i found myself thinking a lot about that film. Somehow, Dirty Beaches music remind me of Tsai and Wong Kar Wai films. and yes! Roy Montgomery is great, i definitely have to listen more of his music.

nah probably not. at the end of the day, it's too expensive and complicated to get to porto from shanghai. barcelona was easier at least.

Thanks for the Actress track in particular -- sounds terrific. Do check out the rest of Add N to (x)'s Avant Hard, very consistent album and that's probably not the best track off it

yeah i've been thinking about this a lot. it's either i go to both or neither. i can't go straight to porto because the airfare is actually cheaper if i go to barca and then porto. gotta think some more about it. where are you gonna stay?

Yeah, that concert seems to have been a great experience! I remember that the beach house concert was so interesting visually because they used the light and the sound coherently, it was really a fantastic band to see live. And thanks, I am working on some new material at the moment, I hope it'll be ready soon.

Oh, no you wouldn't! haha. Yeah, well, this is just a smaller city (about 65, 000 inhabitants), it looks nice generally speaking but there's nothing much going on. I am picky as well which makes it harder for me to find some bands to see live in the area. The latest concert I saw was Beach House and it was three hours away from where I live! (Seriously?) But, it's okay since I've seen some cool bands live anyway before living there and I plan on moving sooner or later.

Oh right, I know The Bats and The Clean (I love the clean, sooo good) but I never listened to The Chills, I should definitely check them out then. Were they signed on Flyin Nun? Thank you for Lawrence's link! The gigs are okay although I am living in a lame town at the moment so nothing really happens there musically. Locally, you can listen to some local ska/heavy metal bands or some folky bands who cover famous songs like Oasis' wonderwall or Hendrix's Purple Haze. Gnn, that hurts. I need to move to Paris. I am assuming things are really different in London, right?

Oh yeah, definitely, I love Galaxie 500, their music is absolutely wonderful! I don't really know The Chills, I should look into that. Isn't it a kind of surf-pop? And His Name Is Alive is really good, it's very soft and calm I think. If there was a movie about the singer, I HAVE TO see it, I love everything about the band. Do you know Gem Club or This Scarlet Train, I have discovered these dream pop bands lately and you'd like them, I think.

Haha, no, actually, I just browsed through the Neighbours' tag and I came accross your profile! And, if you've discovered the same albums (and since these happened to be old gems), this coincidence is kinda odd, indeed! Did you discover any other albums lately? I personally went through Felt's discography these past months and wow, they are amazing.

they're one of my favourite bands ever, but i'm generally not crazy about reunion tours. i stopped listening to jamc after i saw their reunion show. it wasn't bad per se, but well... lets just say i never realised how thin their tunes were until i saw them live. strange about the 90s goths... i'm picturing 90s goth ravers shopping for platform shoes in camden market. i don't like it one bit. the line-up is amazing, really eclectic. i feel spoiled by how predictably excellent primavera is year after year. branca with 100 guitarists is still the best live musical experience for me. he's going to be the one i most look fwd to seeing this year.
