Hey, found you from [user]app103[/user] and been reading all this in your shoutbox, I think if you're having trouble getting last.fm to accept your photo, perhaps it's time to send your photo to someone who can try uploading it for you. It's also possible that your photo is too large. Try something a bit smaller. Just my 2 cents. I'm totally blind, so don't know all that much about photos, but I managed to get one on my page [artist]Facial Vision[/artist]. Good luck. Another suggestion I have is to put a link to your music on last.fm in your about me. This is, after all, last.fm. Here's how: {artist}Paul Adams{/artist} but use [*] instead of {*}, it looks like this: [artist]Paul Adams[/artist]. I know you're in your charts, but I look at the about me of artists first to see if I can find the link to their last.fm page. This is the difference between here and other sites, your personal page and artist page are separate entities, so it's your responsibility to link them. Cheers from KS

Thanks for clarifying that THAT artists page is like a WIKI page and not mine. But, it sort of it. They gave me an admin to it where I can upload my albums and have them listed. To experiment, I just uploaded another album and took it down (As it was already previously there). So I have what's called a Last FM Music Manager. Unfortunately, there is a spot where I can upload my artists photo, but as I said Last FM doesn't like me. It's the only site that refuses to accept my jpegs. Odd. So we're back to square one. Just tried again. It acted like it was loading, then just a bare place where my photo was paul

See, that is the mistake you keep making in thinking it's YOUR artist page. This page you are on right now is YOUR page....this is the ONLY page that is YOURS. The artist page that you keep thinking is yours and bears your name is a fan created page devoted to you. A wiki containing user generated content. It's not your page...it's OUR page for you. Of course you have no control. You aren't meant to. Us fans have control and we say what we want there and not want there. Now if you want to contribute a photo, go to the link I gave you and upload one...then your FANS will vote to decide if WE want that photo to represent you on OUR page. And that is how last.fm works, Paul.

I should be able to admin my artist site as I set it up. I can do some things but not others. Artist photos being one. Send them email last week and will wait to see what they say. Works on all the other sites. yes, I asked the guy about using Last FM, and he backed away saying he really can't help or something like that. I thought it was odd too. No big deal. I'll see about using last at a later date and see why it doesn't seem to like to communicate w/ me. I just don't have the time. Last and iLike seem to be two sites I have yet to deal with. paul

Go here and upload ALL your tracks and make sure they are full track streamable, and offer a few for download too: http://www.last.fm/uploadmusic?accountType=artist Then get to work visiting profiles of your listeners and leave messages in their shoutboxes thanking them for listening...with links to more tunes of yours, your website, live show info, your website, etc. You don't have some big RIAA label to do this for you and if you want to be famous you have to do it yourself. Don't start with the I can't, don't know how, don't have time stuff. If you are going to make excuses then you really don't want fans and would rather make music just for yourself. And if that is the case, then what are you doing here? And on myspace?, And facebook? and everywhere else? You are obviously not here to listen to your own stuff, so go do what you have to do.

That guy I referred you to has no difficulties uploading his music and does a fine job of promoting it here on the site. You probably didn't ask the correct questions And what do you mean they don't allow uploading photos? Even I can upload a photo to your artist page. Check here: http://www.last.fm/music/Paul+Adams/+images Of course they don't allow you any admin privileges. You can't go deleting things in a user written wiki, nor can you delete info about other artists of the same name, nor can you delete data on tracks played by users, or user added tags. That isn't how last.fm works. You do have full control over what actual tracks are made available here though, and whether they are full tracks for streaming, full tracks for downloading, or only a streamable 30 sec clips. That's all you get to admin/moderate. But that doesn't mean you can't use what is here to your best advantage and promote the heck out of your music with it.

oh, i understand. i thought, after reading your journal entry, that you feel a little bit helpless as a user, but now i understand that you were referring to your state as an artist. so, may i ask, why does last.fm at this moment make little sense to you ? maybe i can explain very quickly. i'm an artist, too.

i'm pretty sure you're a new to this, but are you new to content in communications, too ? here is my content for you : don't worry about your first impression of last.fm. the possibilities of this site are huge, i don't know of any site on the net that compares. but yes, you have to get acquainted with its peculiarities. what kind of music did you like most ? the familiar one or the vast and deep one. communicate or you will be declined from my list. cheers from mallorca :)

No worries - I still don't quite have the hang of the site myself. I may go and check out Pandora for a bit, and if that's not grabbignmy goat, I may resubscribe to emusic, which had the greatest collection, social interaction, and music avialable to download. The subscription model was kind of annoying, but it was worth it for the sheer amount of cool stuff.

Hey Paul, I'm not on here much either, but it sure is great to be able to hear the music that you wouldn't be able to hear anywhere else without paying for first. This is great.
