Your compatibility with mothertruker is Super. You both listen to Frank Zappa, The Mothers of Inv… and The Doors. /// How did your Frank Zappa challenge go? What album do you think is his best work?

Then I probably think you have good taste ;) The challenge was long, I already had listened to an absurd amount of Zappa all year, and then specialy with the live albums of the 80's (except "Make a Jazz Noise Here", that was pretty solid) it was a bit hard. His best, depends on what you like about him, but his 1971-75 stuff is the most interesting and fun, IMO. There are other amazing albums scatered around, the obvious ones but also some

... sleepers like "Waka / Jawaka", "Sleep Dirt", "Orchestral" and "Make a Jazz Noise". Are you thinking about doing the challenge?

hello! no, I'm not going to do a challenge, cuz I have heard many of his albums. my personal favorite is Civilization Phase III, I consider this masterpiece to be his best work. and I love his every work with MOI, especially One Size Fits All. he's one of my favorite musicians, and it's very interesting to know what people think about his discography. thanks for answering! your music taste is pretty various, love it.

V "Awake" and "Images and Words" are the best Dream Theater albums, you should listen those first. Then try "6DOIT". DT´s principal influences are Rush (every classic album of them); Queensryche (Operation: Mindcrime); Metallica (MoP and AJFA...); Pink Floyd (DSOTM, Meddle); Yes (Fragile, Awaken); Genesis (Foxtrot, SEBTP). A bit less: King Crimson, Watchtower and Fates Warning.

Hey nice taste in music here! I just wanted to say I agree with your comment on The Faceless page full heartedly. Jazz + Metal should be bigger in metal. Cheers!

In response to your question about the sample in faaip de oiad. On September 11, 1997, Bell took a call from a frantic man claiming to be an ex-Area 51 employee who grew progressively more upset as the call wore on, culminating in the show's going temporarily off the air because of "satellite failure." Art on Coast2Coast AM art later had the guy on and proved that it was a goof just to rile people up. Maynard was just using the piece to do the same thing i presume.

I really prefer the one you did for Sleep. Especially what you did with the sky and all.

Many people also like grunge nd metal. So, just listen what you like to hear. Dont hate some genre because it is responsible for the death of some genre. May be the death of some genre created many new genre's. Grunge took something from metal but gave much more than that. Listen to what you like ! :)

A lot of metal bands are influenced by grunge, especially nu metal bands like Slipknot and Disturbed.
