how come people generally just listen to music that doesn't require thought to listen to, even people on last.fm, /mu/, and rym? even in communities where music is actually appreciated people still don't appreciate the music that actually takes thought to appreciate. most people would rather turn on an album and get whisked away to fairy land where all their problems are taken away. kind of shallow, like a drug trip or something. that is all those people want to do is have shallow meaningless highs off their music. I want to explore music and develop a deeper understanding of it and myself in the process. I don't care about the vapid things that most music listeners care about. what is the true music?

Yeah, completely gutted about not getting Slowdive tickets. I actually had two tickets in my basket, went to enter my details and then it told me it was sold out. What kind of ticket site takes the tickets out of your basket while paying for them?! Hopefully there will be more UK gigs announced soon.

That's great! I like it to, much more than her previous album. It's more melodic, dynamic and not so boring as Everything is changing. We live on is a great song! However, still love her the most with the Gathering.

Live Room and Stab Variations are my personal favs from Virgins. And yeah, I've heard Sunbather, been quite enjoying it actually. ^^

A shame to hear that, hopefully you'll get anothe chance to see him in future! I'd say Virgins in terms of sound probably lies somewhere between Ravedeath and some of his noisier earlier stuff.

I see... Acutally, there have been also several years since The Gathering last played in my country. What a shame I didn't know them back then. If I had, I wouldn't have missed their show =( Thanks to Slowdive, I realized that "When the Sun Hits" by the Gathering is just a cover.. don't know which version I like most now :D.

It is possibl to get vinyls cheaper at the merch side after the concerts. I bought 2 of Anathema in the price of one. :) By the way, I found a band called Slowdive in your library and got interested immediately. Now I am completely in love with them, such a beautiful and nostalgic music :)

That's always good when musicians are open and friendly for their fans :) Anathema members are one of such people, once after their show Vincent came to fans immedietely and stayed with us for a long time. It was great and really kind. I think I should purchase some TG vinyls as well, as I call myself a fan but they're so expensive =c

I have seen her once at the acoustic concert with Danny Cavanagh. Unfortunately my picture with musicians is too dark and i don't even see faces =( but the show was fantastic and I am proud of having all my The Gathering & Anneke CD's and a ticket signed by her :) She's so lovely =)

Hey, I recently picked up Mandylion by the Gathering. Did I do well? Also, what album of their would you recommend to me next? (I have now listened to the aforementioned Mandylion and How To Measure a Planet?) I liked the styles exhibited on both their albums, but I especially enjoyed Great Ocean Road and Frail amongst their songs thus far. Also for some reason I am now a super with you.

I can't help but feel like my expectations were set too high, it just lacked the staying power Loveless had for me, but who knows, it may be a grower. Nothing is, Is this and yes, and Wonder 2 all felt like kind of weak tracks to me while Loveless had no weak tracks

Frail and Great Ocean Road are pretty good songs by The Gathering, I haven't listened too much. I'll get around to more, I just don't force myself to listen to any type of music at once for reasons of taste. It's counter-intuitive, you know?
