I am on Page 32 or something right now so i can't give an opinion. I came across most of Charles's quotes here on this guy's profile http://www.last.fm/user/Remorhaz . I could relate to them as well as all other quotes on the page. So i decided to read one or two of his books.

I started reading The Karamazov Brothers. Actually, i had started reading it back in March but stopped as i picked up A Storm Of Swords in between. I started again now. I also came across a lot of quotes by Charles which i liked and wanted to check out his work.

I have been working in Bangalore since the last two weeks. Have only explored the surrounding area by my house and office. The weather is great and the nearby area is quiet posh and good, but, expensive as well. As far as my experience goes, so far it's good. Still too early to say though.

I have always thought the kind of music one listens to is a reflection of his / her inner self. What do you think? I don't know how to describe myself or the music i listen to in words, but, this music resonates with my own inner self.

Never tried Prog really. The only stuff i ever tried in prog are Opeth and King Crimson. Didn't really enjoy either, at least i don't remember anything of both. Don't know whether i am gonna ever try Progressive really. The only non metal music i have ever liked has been some Floyd stuff and Einaudi, Brahms and Vivaldi. For listening to something other than death, i prefer stuff like Burzum, Gris, Peste Noire, TotalSelfHatred, Coldworld and the like. The atmosphere is beautiful in this form of music. Is there any prog you recommend that has a remote possibility of changing my mind?? :D

I started off with pop music while i was in high school, after leaving school and for one and half to two years, i used to listen to random selected rock songs, which i could gather from here and there. Started listening to metal with Metallica, Maiden (not so much) and Megadeth near the end of junior college heavily. First two years of engineering, it was mostly the famous metal bands i could find. Got into Melo Death with COB for a while and then Tech Death with Nile and for half a year, i tried all tech death bands i could. Got into old school starting with Bloodbath and then the famous ones like Morbid Angel, Obituary, Death, Monstrosity and the like. Moved onto pure old school stuff afterwards with swedish and finnish death. Burzum got me into BM. Since 2009, i have been exploring mostly BM and OSDM. From last year have got a bit into classical. This is where i am now.

All your arguments are correct. I have thought about them as well, but, i just want to enjoy myself. Doing an MBA would be the exact opposite of enjoying. Whatever i will learn while doing an MBA, is not something i want to learn. I get bored too easily. Science, Books, Music and Nature are the only things which keep me from getting bored of this world. Learning and doing stuff is the only way i know of, to give life it's meaning.

I have not explored new stuff for quiet a while now. Just listening to the stuff i downloaded last year. Have downloaded a lot of OSDM bands over the past few months, but, have yet to check them out. Except for Medtner and Einaudi, i have not heard anything else in that list. Will check them out. Any particular recommendations you would like to give?

If i clear GATE, will be applying to IIT Bombay, IISC, Madras, Kharagpur and Kanpur and may be NIT Trichy. I am not giving GRE. I cannot raise the kind of money required for MS. Ya, there is money in CAT, but, the managerial line is boring. Even if i do clear CAT, after i get into an MBA college, i will get too bored too even finish the course. I do not have any aims to become a manager. Yes, someday the company will not allow me to work as a developer / engineer and ask me to leave or become a manager. At that time, if i do not get tied down by money concerns for family, it will be time to switch to academic field and become a professor. I like reading and learning. Managing a bunch of people hardly seems worth it. Money is very important to me, but, it does not give any satisfaction per se. If i earn a little less than my peers, that's ok, as long as i can easily sustain myself and satisfy my wants.

I am studying for GATE. I also study about other technical topics to continuously increase my knowledge, when i am not studying for GATE. I avoid CAT like the plague :D. Managerial tasks are boring. What other options are you considering? If i flunk in GATE, i will be doing MSc in Mathematics with focus on Applications in Computer Science.
