Hey man, I think have good news. Well, I felt really quite bad that I was only able to give inconclusive information about getting YKK way back. I don't know if getting it still interests you, but looking deeper into it recently, I was able to find a way to get the whole series in new condition for about half the price I had mentioned earlier. If you follow halcyonrealms' guide to buying from Amazon Japan, the website actually has the entire series for about $68. Last thing: If you do have the money and are still convinced, I HIGHLY recommend investing on these books. I am wholeheartedly happy I bought them, and not only do I not regret buying them, but if I had to choose again, I would buy them in a flash.

EDIT: I meant "sooner OR later" and I forgot to mention that 10 bucks of the price was for shipping (so the price was was shipping included).

On the good side, eBay profitability for out of print items can spark reprintings and repressings (including licensing for an English version) once it gets out that there is demand for them, as happened with some of my favourite 90s powerviolence bands (and so I end up having to spend 15 bucks on a complete collection of a band's discography rather than dishing out numerous Benjamins for rare used 7-inch vinyl). Please know that if I ever scan these, you'll be the first to know. I mention this because manga books are not guaranteed to stay readable by the time I get to be 100 years old (fat chance I'll get that old but you catch my drift), so as long as it's possible to do scans without ruining the books, I'll have to do the job sooner of later.

There was actually a recent reprinting of the series split into 10 volumes rather than the original 14, but it's still been some years since that came out so as far as I know the only option is to buy them used. I was bummed out about that simply because that means the purchase price doesn't directly fund the author. I ended up buying the original print as opposed to the new one because it was the one I found at a 'good' price. It was about 130 bucks USD though so it does cost a pretty penny, but as far as availability goes, I see the full collection pop up on eBay regularly, which I figure is because all the fans in Japan probably updated to the new press to extend shelf-life or replace worn-out volumes since the first volume of this came out nearly 20 years ago.

Awesome, man. I'm actually a huge fan of it. I've read it a couple of times, but I absolutely get where you're coming from - it's not as easy to find the time to read through it now that I'm older. That is, without jeopardizing the flow of it with huge gaps of time between chapters. I'm actually lucky enough to own the physical volumes which makes the visual aspect of it even better than with the lower res scanlations. I still use the scanlations for the English text though as I don't know jack shit of Japanese. I'll say If you ever want a scan of any pages in particular, feel free to drop me a line - anyone who reps YKK alongside Bark Psychosis and Aesop Rock is cool by me.

You just catch me at the worst times. I love Wadada though. His new album, Ten Freedom Summers, is probably my favorite album of 2012. It's like 4.5 hours though so probably not the best place to ease into him. You might want to try Golden Hearts Remembrance. Id start with system express and golden section, both have a few different styles of music, pretty varied compared to a lot of electronic acts.

Quattro Pezzi Per Orchestra + Anahit + bonus skrillex remix tracks is the only album i'm truly familiar with, but The Works For Double Bass has that same heavy creeping oppressive vibe. try that mebbeh, a ton of his work is on rutracker
